I went bankrupt chapter 7 and discharged in June of 2001. Went and applied for a mortgage to buy a house this year in May 2005. Thinking my credit was getting better, I find out that there is a company still reporting me. It's World Financial Network National Bank. I disputed with the credit reporting agencies and only one of them (Equifax) said WFNNB verified it. Well TransUnion and Experian both updated my report without proof from me, but Equifax said I needed to send my papers. So I did and they still said that WFNNB still verified the status as charge off and still posting account history as active. Well, I looked back at an older credit report and notice it was another company.Not sure what it stands for, but it's GEMB. Well they switched names during or after my bankruptcy. So I sent copy's of my bankruptcy papers and told them they switch names during that time. In my letter I wrote: In the event that you can not verify the item pursuant to the FCRA, and you continue to list the disputed item on my credit report I will find it necessary to sue you for actual defamation damages and declaratory relief under the FCRA. According to this regulation, I may sue you in any qualified state or federal court, including small claims court in my area. You have severely limited my ability to purchase a home. I sent it certified mail and I got no response. I called after 45 days, then I found out that they sold my account to NCO Portfolio Management on Dec. 20Th 2005. I sent my certified mail on Dec 5Th. I think maybe I scared them.lol. I just can't seem to find an answer to this. Hope someone can help. Thanks.
