I contact Geico to sign up for General Liability Insurance for pressure washing. They signed me up through a partner company called Hiscox. Geico had signed me up for the wrong policy that covers inside work and not exterior work.
I ask for a refund of the 6 months I was paying becuase I was not covered and they made the mistake. I called both companies and they just blame each other and give me the apology tour.

Your entire narrative would be relevant if you incurred what would be considered an insurable loss, and the insurance company provided you the wrong policy - meaning you were uninsured for any loss you incurred. However, if you had the wrong policy, and you didn't incur a loss, then why would you require a refund? I mean if the policy was recorded correctly, and you didn't incur a loss - then you're still in the same place as you are right now.
Now if you did incur a loss, and the insurance company put the policy in the wrong place, then I can see the ripoff. However, you don't indicate here whether you incurred a loss.
Yes, I get that everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else and no one is taking responsibility for the error. That sort of garbage needs to be sorted out. However, once it is sorted out, then you're fine. If you haven't incurred a loss, then you haven't been ripped off - you are simply dealing with at least one party that doesn't know what they're doing.
BTW - I suspect the problem is whoever the broker is - not the actual insurance company. Best of luck to you.
