Though I received no response from Andy Martin, dinosaur kale I purchased was heavily contaminated with fabric softener odor likely transferred from the harvesters clothes to the harvesters hands to the leaves of the produce. This is not just organic produce no longer worthy of the certification. Breathing it is bad; I believe eating it is much worse.
Conscientiously harvested conventional produce is more healthy than this profoundly poisonous organic produce. The transferred greasy residues (what makes clothes seem soft) are engineered in hell, intentionally designed to remain chemically intact with artificial fixatives, and many of these are at least carcinogenic in nature. Ingesting them means you carry their effects for a lifetime unless you are prepared for a high-level detoxification program designed to root out dioxins – incredibly tiny amounts create cancer –causing results.
Consumers are willing to pay 30-60% more for the organic certification. From 1997 to 2013, organic food sales in the United States have increased nearly 800%,from $3.6 billion to a $32.3 billion in 2013. It’s estimated that organic food sales will top $42 billion in the U.S. in 2014. Beware. Unscupulous growers are well aware of this growing food market sector and would love to add hefty margins to their bottom line.
Andy Martin of A & A Organic, Inc. seems to prefer to ignore this serious alert. It would have required him to look set down a new precaution, or possibly have to pay for latex gloves being used in the harvesting and cleaning of these dark green leaves. Beware of similar big farming operations that accept produce from many small farms and distribute it at a high premium for produce that is organic only in name. We are programmed to think organic has some kind of halo around it, while there are plenty of loopholes for insincere businesses to adopt that crooked halo.
I recommend people that care about their health remain alert to businesses like A & A Organic, Inc. When you see the yellow band imprinted with aaorganic.com, reflect on this alert and choose another grower closer to your locality that is eager to hear your concerns; a farming operation that cares at least as much as you care about your family’s long-term future well-being.
