This is our side of the story. It can be verified with the El Paso Police Dept. We fixed the transmission because of it had problems shifting. When the transmission was ready Ms. Garcia asked us to check her a/c because it was not working. she also mentioned that it had overheated. The fan clutch was defective and the wrong size. She said she had just replaced at another shop. I told her take the vehicle back to them. She said no that she wanted us to fix it since she did not have a warranty. We replaced the fan clutch. She picked up the vehicle and paid. She called me later saying that the vehicle could not drive over 30 mph. I told her to bring it back to see what was going on. She requested her money back and that she would pay once the vehicle was ready. She got here and I went with her for a test drive. She drove the car and was coasting the car. The vehicle was making a noise while she was driving. When we made a turn the transmission shifted fine. I did not see any problems with the transmission. I told Kate that her transmission was fine and that the noise appeared to be coming from her fan. She got very upset and demanded her money back until it was fixed right. I told her that I needed to check her vehicle. Because she was very upset and unreasonable I decided to give her money back for now. She dropped the vehicle. I went with a mechanic and drove the vehicle normally and it shifted fine. We got into I10 and the vehicle went up to 60 MPH. My mechanic said that he did not feel anything wrong with the transmission. I asked him to check the noise. When we got back to the shop we pulled in and open the hood. I noticed that Kate was back at the shop and she requested her keys because she needed something from her vehicle. Immediately she got in the car and tried to get it started and take off. Me and the mechanic had our hands in the engine. She could have caused an injury. I went over and checked to see if the keys were in the ignition. She had put them away in her pocket. She said she did not have the keys. I advise her not to try to leave because she still had not paid for the repair and she would be committing theft of service. She was furious and started insulting me and telling not to touch her car. We disabled the vehicle. The police were called and agreed that Kate could not take the vehicle without paying for the service. After much argument they convinced her to leave the vehicle. She did. We checked the vehicle and decided to replace the fan clutch again. When the car was ready for pick up, I called Carlos, Kate's husband, and let him know that the vehicle was ready. I asked him what was the vehicle doing before you brought it in "he said it was not shifting properly from 1-2" I confirmed with him that the car did not have those problems anymore. I requested he come pick up the vehicle himself to verify the proper function of the vehicle that I would rather not deal with Kate because of her prior behaviour. He told me he was out of town. I told him that I did not want to go through the same problems as last time when her wife tried to take off without paying. He said he will send his brother to check and pick up the car. The brother arrived and he drove the vehicle with me in it. He said he did not feel anything wrong with the transmission. He even asked me to check a minivan that he was having transmission problems with. When we got to the shop Kate was there waiting. She got on with us and drove the vehicle. She complained that the transmission was not shifting. I said you need to press the gas so it shifts. The transmission shifted normally. I told her if she had any doubts about the transmission shifting properly to bring a mechanic to verify it. She said that is not necessary. She came into the shop and paid. If she has any issues with the work done she can bring the vehicle to have it checked.
