If property taxes are not paid, then the goverment gets first lien on the house, so the mortgage holder would not get the house, and thats partly why they are so fussy about having the taxes paid and usually ins't on drawing them for the borrower.

The suggestion for getting an attorney is probably a very good suggestion at this point. I would also keep a log of any phone calls you had with this company. Make copies of the receipts and copies of your father's insurance, send them with a detailed explanation cover letter and make sure you send them certified mail, return receipt requested. Keep copies of everything you do. Maybe someone out there would know if this would work. Since they are claiming your father owes this money and you know it has been paid, can you file a law suit for the amount of money your father has paid out? If your father has a good insurance agent, get him/her involved in the homeowner's insurance issue and have him/her contact the mortgage company.

For God's sake man - DON'T -fool around spend a few bucks and get a lawyer before your father loses his home. This company seems like it is out to take your father's home by hook or crook.

We do have the receipt's from the county but Aames still's says we owe them. I spent 2 hour's in the county complex to find the receipt and when called Aames they said they paid them even though all the papers at the county say that my father paid them. Then on top of that they are saying he has no home owner's insurance and they put their's on it. Now they are trying to make him pay for the tax's and insurance which come out to be almost 4,000.00.

When I pay my real estate taxes (Kansas), I get a receipt from the County Treasurer's office in the county where my house is located. Does your father have receipts from the county or copies of canceled checks? Either should prove that he has paid the taxes. He should also contact the county and find out whether or not they are showing any delinquent taxes. Last year my mortgage company's escrow company had not paid one half of the taxes on the due date. I received a notice from the county that my taxes were going to be considered late. I paid them, then the escrow company turned around and paid them. I received my escrow statement showing the full taxes as paid. I sent the mortgage company a copy of my paid receipt and requested the return of my payment on the taxes. My money was refunded (one half via check, the other half via my escrow account).
