I took a couple days of training and decided not to pursue working for the distributor.
I have some tax and business experience and have discovered that their contract withe the dealers is illegal. Both at the state and federal level there is a legal defintion of an employee and an independent contractor. The contract that dealers sign with the distributor is so restrictive that under the law the dealers are defined as employees.
That means that the distributor must withhold federal and state income tax (if your state has income tax. The distributor must also pay their share of medicare and social security tax and federal state unemployment tax.
You should file a complaint with your state department of labor and department of revenue.

First I wouldn't listen to Kelley she is dating the owner/boss. Chad is probably telling her what to write. I worked for this company for 2 years (I was totally brainwashed). It started out as a lot of fun and everyone was just laughing and you enjoyed being there. I think that is how they got me to stay. I started out as a dealer and sucked at it but I was actually good at setting appointments so I switched to being an appointment setter. It was fun because every prize/trip you could win I did. I became one of the top 3 in the region (7 states). However those trips and prizes did not pay the bills which were stacking up higher and higher because they wanted you to express this lavish lifestyle you got through the job. When the truth is you barely even have time for a life working 9am to midnight or later. I became a 5 diamond medaliion within 6 months which is the qualifications to open your own distributorship and still had not been promoted once. Towards the end it was miserable working there it was not fun anymore and I would cry almost everyday. My turning point and last straw was when I found out I was pregnant I told them and Chad (owner) told me that I had just ruined my life and career and basicaly in his "positive" words said that I should get rid of it. So I walked out. When I showed up for my last paycheck I got one for only 50 dollars (it should have been over $500) and the explanation that it was so low because I had customers default on their first payment. About 2-3 months later he fired my boyfriend (he worked in the shop) giving some bullshit reason 2 days before Christmas. He also never gave him his last paycheck. Now I work doing something that I absolutely love. I get paid better (with taxes taken out) and I get to be home by 3pm and weekends off which gives me tons of time with my baby girl!!

I was an employee for this company for two years. Before any postings, I think there should be a review before any slandering. The company that is being referred to is the best placed i have ever worked. The managers and co-workers are amazing. Everyone is an independent dealer and goes through an orientation that explains everything clearly. You even sign a Dealer Agreement that puts the program in black and white. It sounds to me like the complainer didn't want to work just get paid for nothing. Kirby is a 94 year old door to door direct sale company! It's obvious what they do. Is your glass half full or half empty?
