Advantage Capital ripoff deceptive company Carson City Nevada
This company uses misleading tactics to get your business. They call stating that you've been approved for a credit card with a limit of $2500 and then state that if you pay a one time fee of $159.95 plus a monthly handling fee of $14.95, there won't be any interest charged to the account. What they don't tell you is that it's a glorified debit card and that you have to deposit the $2500 to be able to use the card.
When I discovered what the card was actually all about, I demanded a refund of my $174.90. That was in February. I am still waiting to receive that amount.
First, I found out that they had the wrong account number, so I corrected that over the phone with their customer service department. I was told it would take 7-10 business days for the money to be deposited. When it wasn't, I called again, and was told that someone would call me from the corporate office. This actually happened, but no refund was ever deposited.
I contacted the Reno/Carson City Better Business Bureau and the Nevada Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs. Although I was told that there have been several complaints about this company, they could not help me resolve the matter.
I guess I am now faced with contacting an attorney in Carson City to begin legal proceedings. I plan to attempt to sue for triple damages (as we can in Idaho) plus request attorney fees and compensation for mental anguish as I have been waiting now for 6 months to receive a check in the amount of $174.90 from a company that pulls in probably 5,000 times that each day.
Do not respond to these people; do not allow them to bamboozle you into believing their hype. It's all crap. They are a company who does nothing but rip people off.
