Fortunately I write this BEFORE being severely-ripped off & hurt. I suggest you do the same. As many times before, I used the One-Travel website to book my flight from my home in Costa Rica to see my mother in Florida. However, Mom turned 90 & gave up her car, so I have to rent one. At the end of making my flight reservations, I clicked BOOK A CAR & received a confirmation from Advantage. As I have never rented a car in Fort Myers, I called the provided number to learn the proceedure. It took a week of calling until they answered---then they advised me that they close at midnight.
As my flight lands at 11PM & leaves at 6, I tried calling Advantage many times (no answer) before going on the ADvantage website. I explained (every day for a week) that my plane does not land until 11 & I may not get to the car agency by midnight---& need to return the car at 4AM. Each day I checked my email for a reply---& got none. Finally I called Advantage's toll-free number & was told that I could neither pick up my (already paid-for) car when I arrive (they work 8-midnight)---or return it when I leave, as they will be closed.
This trip is a big deal for Mom, & she has things planned for us every day. Had I not been persistant, I would have wound up at RSW at midnight with my baggage &* no car---& Mom & I could not do anything while I am there. I know large corporations just don't give a d**n once they get your money---but this is a new low. I have contacted One Travel, who is "working on it"---but no results yet.
