City's Top Prosecutor Secures One Year in Jail for Room for Rent Scammer

LOS ANGELES City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo today announced his office has

secured a one-year jail sentence and mandatory counseling for a Pacific

Palisades man charged with multiple sexual assaults.

Alan Wurtzel, 63, pleaded no contest to six counts of sexual battery and was

sentenced to six years probation, mandatory sex offender registration, and one

year in jail. L.A. Superior Court Judge James Otto also ordered Wurtzel to pay a

$32,000 fine, make a $10,000 contribution to the California Coalition Against

Sexual Assault, and undergo 104 sessions of psychological treatment.

The charges against Wurtzel stem from reports of several sexual batteries dating to 2000. In each of the incidents, Wurtzel placed room for rent ads in print and electronic media seeking a female roommate for beachfront property.

When victims arrived, Wurtzel would ply them with alcohol and proceed to grope them or m********e in front of them.

An undercover investigation was conducted in December 2004, resulting in a

female officer being victimized by Wurtzel. The case was successfully

prosecuted by Deputy City Attorney Spencer Hart of Delgadillo's Criminal and

Special Trials Unit.

A progress report is scheduled for March 23 in Division 45 of Los Angeles

Superior Court

Wurtzel is currently serving his jail sentence inn "weekend jail" in Glendale and a search in the California Sex Offender Registry database not show any results for him. Perhaps due to his long-time friendship with Governor Schwarzenegger?
