I would immediately contact the folks at www.moverescue.com and let them know immediately what has happened. This mover (All United) has done this numerous times this summer (just read ROR if you don't believe me) and this company consisting of lawyers and other such persons who know the moving industry, can intercede on your behalf and get your items back. Do this as soon as possible!!
By the way, the reason all of the quotes you received online were reasonable is because all scam movers reside on the internet. All of them low-balled you. If you contacted someone well-known and had them quote you, you would have found out what moving really costs. Reputable movers make (at most) 5% profit on every move, so if an online mover quotes you something a lot lower than one of the reputable movers....you're going to be scammed and pretty badly.
Best of luck to you!!
