So I just got back from the airport and I picked up this letter, not addressed to me but rather to my brother who has past away a year ago. It had no return address on the envelope but it had a stamp and the website of the canadian post office.

I ripped open the envelope and out came this check for $2,555.00. Right out of the envelope it looked fake to me because of the blurred printing and no watermark. It looked legit from far away but it wasn't getting me. With the check came this letter and in bolded typing

it mentioned "NORTH-AMERICAN SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY".

Below is the actual letter received:

"A ticket with serial numbers FS (Incomplete) attached to your email address: (not disclosed here) drew the lucky winning numbers ...(hidden). We have made many unsuccessful attempts to contact you regarding this winning. You are entitiled to the sum of $78,540.00 US dollars. This is from total prize money of $2,827,440.00 Million US dollars that was shared and presented among the other 36 declared winners.

This sweepstake was played without your knowledge or consent but participants were selected through a random computerized ballot system drawn from over 5,000,000 names of credit card holders, online shippers, email address owners and website registrants as part of our donor's citizen empowerment program conducted annually.

Your claim number is ,.......(hidden) and in accordance with our disbursement policy your prize award money has been forwarded to our clearing/disbursement institution to release your funds to you either by certified check or money order or wired transfer to your designated local bank account which you will provide.

To expedite the processing, enclosed is a check of $2,555 US dollars which has been deducted from your winning. You will be using the money on this first check to pay for the applicable under-writer charges (taxes) on your winning.

Please do not attempt to use this check until you call and speak with your claim agent Edgar Seadoff 1(613)-482-0622 Ext. 81 for further clarification and instructions on claiming your win.

NOTE: If we do not hear from you within 14 days, we shall consider the mail lost or stolen and the enclosed check will be cancelled.

You are hereby warned not to disclose your winning information to a third party until after pay-off is concluded to avoid double claim.

Yours Truly

Juan Layton

Promotion Manager"

Apparently two months earlier I was watching this tv show and it told a story about this lady who had gotten scammed by the same lottery scheme scam.

Please avoid Lottery winning letters addressed from canada or any other place without verification of it being true in any ways.
