Please, be aware of amazon.com, great deals, great prices but..., this is my experience: For the holidays like anybody else I was looking for deals(I have a big family and I want to get a little something for each one of them, so, I went to amazon.com and purchase few items on sale, by december 29 my bank account was overdraft with an authorized membership charges from amazon.com $79. amazon charge me without my authorization, I spoke to a customer service representative and they promise to refund all charges to my account and today is 12 January, 2009 and nothing has being refund to me.

Actually they are ignoring my faxes and calls. Correction, they refund the membership fees, but not the $100. overdraft charges. Who would think that amazon.com a very popular site like that will do such thing, I guess I will go to the stores from now on!!!

Here's my guess

$79 is the price of an Amazon Prime membership. It's my guess that you accidentally signed up for it by clicking one of the ads at the top of the page that says "Get free two day shipping on your order" and you didn't read the fine print or check your order total. You got your free 2 day shipping, all was good, and then 30 days later (after the free month expires) they charge you $79 for the Prime membership. You could have canceled in the first month for free and not have been charged. Amazon will refund the cost of the Prime membership, but unfortunately you're liable for the overdraft charges.
