Sunday, my fiancee found a 2003 Peterbilt 379 for sale on commercialtrucktrader.com. The price was absolutely amazing for the type of truck it was, with low miles and not very old. The asking price was $9,500. He contacted the numbers listed and was contacted by a woman's son on Monday who said he was trying to sell for his mother and father due to "family issues" and that his mother would contact him with more information soon. This is the e-mail he recieved from the "mother";
Hi,
This is Amber, I'm glad you're interested in buying my 2003 Peterbilt 379 EXHD EXTENDED HOOD Sleeper Semi. Truck is in absolutely excellent shape, with great specs, lots of very tasteful custom touches, very very clean inside and out, and needs absolutely nothing to hit the road and start making you money.
This truck is powered by the Legendary CAT 6NZ engine, possibly the very best engine Caterpillar has ever put in a truck, rated at 500 HP with the original Pre-low NOX programing. Truck easily gets over 6.5 MPG pulling a flat. The transmission is a 13 speed, it shifts like butter with an excellent clutch. Axles are 12k on the front and 40k on the rear. The truck only has 568k miles. 10 brand new 24.5" tires. 10 Brand new brakes. 10 Aluminum rims. There is zero rust anywhere on this truck.
This truck is a Midroof model and it is painted in a beautiful two tone black and metallic olive green. Looks nice in pictures and stunning in person. Lots of custom chrome touches, including 18" custom Texas style front bumper, a chrome visor, chrome rear mudflap brackets, and other miscellaneous chrome bits inside and out. Dual 150 gallon fuel tanks.
Interior is in absolutely impeccable shape and very very clean. Very high end aftermarket leather Elite series driver seat. Custom wood steering wheel and custom leather shift boot.. All the gauges and switches in the truck have chrome trim. Air conditioning is super cold, heater works like it great. All the original manuals are included.
Selling price due family problems is $9,500.
Thank you,
Amber

After reading this e-mail he forwarded on to me, I Googled the woman's full name and was brought to this site. Luckily we caught this scam before it cost us almost $10,000 and a lot of heartache. We had really been interested in this truck, it really is beautiful, whomever's truck it may be. By the sounds of it, it could be just about anyone's, this person has done this before with other equipment and vehicles, including another Petebilt 379 flat roof that was on the same site. My fiancee took steps to report her on that particular website, hopefully it will result in getting her shut down before she can swindle anyone else. Thank goodness for this site, otherwise who knows how far this might have gotten. I hope this post helps save others from losing several thousand dollars to this scam artist.
I will definitely be checking this site for others he finds in his search for a truck, it has proven to be a VERY helpful tool in protecting us against tools.
