I recently purchased a sofa from the American Freight store and my father now has bed bugs in his apartment. He did not have this problem until the sofa was delivered to his home. He noticed some bugs right after he got the sofa but didn't think anything of it but now he has bed bugs throughout his apartment. I called the Florence location today and spoke with an employee who told me he was the "territory manager".

He refused to help me and told me there was nothing they would do to help me. He was very rude and demeaning to me so I asked for the name of his boss and the phone number to the corporate office. He told me that we would not provide me with this information. I then got online and found the phone number to corporate office myself on this website after reading many complaints about this company. I contacted the corporate office and they transferred me the customer service manager.

I explained the customer service I received when I called the Florence location and she was very understanding until I told her that I was looking for the company to help pay for the fumigation costs for my father's home. She told me that the company would not be able to do this. I then explained to her that the problem did not occur until the sofa was delivered to his home. She then told me that I needed to be able to prove that this was caused by the sofa. She said this is a very sarcastic and curt manner.

At that moment I asked her to speak with someone else and she told me that I could only speak to her because she is the 'customer service manager'. I asked 3 more times to speak with someone else and she repeated that I could only speak to her because she is the customer service manager. She then told me that I could call back when I learned some manners and hung up on me! This is the type of service that customers can expect from store employees and corporate employees at this company. I am appalled by this level of customer service and the way in which they treat customers.

I do not understand how they can expect to grow their business when they are certainly losing customers this way. I have worked in retail for 11 years and retail management for 4 years and would not imagine speaking to a customer in this manner or hanging up on a customer. I am sincerely hoping that someone in the company will make this right but I will not hold my breath.
