This moving company, American Gateway Moving and Storage, takes single parents and scams them.
My mother and I were moving from Illinois to Missouri, and we hired them to come pick up our stuff.
They were supposed to be there at 9:30 AM. They didn't show. Mom called, and Zella, one of the receptionists, said she didn't write it down when Mom called and set it up. She said they would leave at noon though. By 3:30, they still hadn't showed. They finally came at 8:30, drunk.
We decided to leave, and the taller man said, "I was hoping to get something extra out of this deal." We got out of there.
They spent an unauthorized night in our house, scraped the floor, and left a hole in the wall.
The cost for them would be $510, but they wouldn't give us our stuff unless we gave them $900. Mom didn't have that kind of money, so we had to borrow it.
The day they picked our stuff up was Friday. We didn't get it until Sunday.
