Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
If this wasn't happening to me, I'm not sure I would believe it possible in the United States to have such fraudulent and unfair credit collection practices as I have seen from American Legal Services.  I continue to receive rude and harassing calls from Carlos and others from this company claiming I owe money to a client of theirs.  I do not owe them any money.  Furthermore, I keep expressing that if they have client which thinks I owe them money, then please go through the proper court channels to present the information to me so that I can get this cleared up in a professional manner.   My comments of this type just make them mad.  They start yelling and talking over me until I finally hang up, which they then proceed to call back.  Same thing happens again and again.

The most frustrating part is that they are calling my place of business and hitting "0" to be continued to other employees of our Firm.  They are rude to them and express I am in real trouble of being arrested due to not paying my bills.

I have provided them with letters from the Dept of Financial Institutions from the Commonwealth of Kentucky indicating internet payday loans are not legal companies in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Therefore, even if I had taken an internet payday loan, I am legally forbidden to repay it.  The reason being they are not a legal entity recognized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and thus, are not paying any Kentucky State tax which is 5%.  The Commonwealth has been extremely helpful in assisting me in sending letters to these people, but they keep rearing their heads as another company several months down the road.

I've changed my cell phone, email address and obtained a P.O. Box, but that only slows them down for a short period of time.  I can't change my work number, so this is starting to really become an infringement on my rights a U.S. Citizen and taxpayer.

Someone needs to bring a class action suit against American Legal Services and other such companies who violate our rights.  I'm not only concerned about myself but about all those people who do not have the resources to fight for themselves or perhaps do not know how to go about doing so.  Plus, you have some who really think these people are sending someone to arrest them.  Hey, they were going to send the FBI to my home on a Monday morning at 11:00 a.m.  I said go ahead, I will have the Police here as well.  Let's see which one shows up first.

I did try one thing which stopped the calls for a while.  I kept a 1/2 bottle of tums on my desk by my phone, when they called I could see their number and I'd pick up the receiver and start shaking the bottle as hard as I could into the receiver.  They finally quit calling.  But, as stated they are unfortunately back again.

The FBI told me that a lot of these type of companies do not even have businesses in the States.  Instead, they are overseas companies and have purchased disposable cell phones that they use.   This would explain why when I continue to hang up on them, they call back on a different number.  Plus, if you see a "1+" at the start of a phone number, it means it's an international call.  I contacted our local FBI after one of the caller said they were a FBI agent.  I asked for their badge number.  I then reported that to the local FBI office.  It was no surprise to them, as apparently, they spend a lot of our hard earned taxpayer dollars trying to shut down these type of businesses.

Hopefully, by taking the time to draft this mini-novel, I've helped someone.  If not, I've at least vented which has helped me a little.

Best wishes to everyone.  If you find a way to stop them, please share with all for the greater good.

This is what I got when I googled them -

SCAM ALERTThere is currently an offshore  scam. These scammers claim to be from American Legal  Services. They call people telling them that they must send money today  or they will be arrested tomorrow. If you  are called by these people, do not give them credit card or any other  numbers. Get the address they want you to send the money to, then call your local F.B.I. and report them immediately.
