I hired the American Mitigation Group (AMG) on December 5th, 2009. I sent in a cashiers check for $2,500 (upfront payment) and paperwork to employ American Mitigation Group to do a loan modification for my property located in Florida . I have added ten other properties since this initial contact because initially I thought I was getting good results.

On February 24th I received a call about one of my other properties that the tenants had been told to get out because the property had been seized. I spoke with my rep at AMG and informed her what happened. She told me she didn't know what was happening but needed more money for the additional properties, wanted to know how much I could send and when. When I asked her about another property she was working on she told me not to worry about it because it was with the HOPE program. This was a valid program for that lender.

When I received the information above I began calling the lenders for each of the eleven properties and none of them had any record of anyone contacting them from AMG, including the Florida property which the full amount was paid up front. I also confirmed that one of my properties that they were supposed to modify had been seized by the bank on February 11th. Needless to say I was very upset and wanted an explanation from someone and a refund of the $2,500.

I have been trying to speak with a Manager at AMG for several weeks but am consistently referred to my rep Cece every time I call. Even when I've asked for a manager. She either tells me don't worry all is well or that she doesn't know what's going on and wants more money. I have tried to talk to the contact person Steve Manion that is referred to on the Better Business website but was told that they did not know why Steve was on the BBB website. I have asked for a refund via email with no response. On their website they advertise a money back guarantee but you cannot get anyone in charge to talk to you.

At this point I'm concerned about the services being offered by AMG. The company has been unprofessional from the beginning, requiring several phone calls and much time on my part confirming receipt of information, faxing the same paperwork sometimes three times a day to ensure receipt, numerous requests to speak with a manager, follow up with lenders, etc as well as taking money to modify loans that they did not do. Please see the attached files containing email correspondence as well as a copy of the cashier's check that was cashed for $2,500.

I also referred a friend to this company one month ago when I thought everything was ok. I talked to this friend on 3/6/2009 and to my horror discovered he paid AMG $2,500 30 days ago and they have done NOTHING.
