American Way Van Lines Ripoff company - Lies Steals and cant be trusted Brooklyn New York
After calling two weeks prior to my move, and confirming a few times what day they were to show up .. Come moving day, the dispatcher called 4 hours late saying that the driver was hung over and he was looking for a new driver.
I should have just cancelled then, but they had a large deposit, and I was sort of stuck.
They finally showed up, in a rented truck, used packing tape on my wood furniture without blankets, (imagine what that did to the wood finish of my antiques)
One of the movers they hired locally and didnt work with them... later they claimed this guy came from a bonded labor firm... who knows. so this guy empties all my dressers into box;s and helps himself to my watch collection which he found in my dresser..
The only reason I left things in dressers is I was assured that they would just wrap them up,, and ship them full of my personal itmes.
When I get to my new place in Los Angeles, first I am presented with a driver who demmands 150 more from me than I contracted for.. because they forgot to calculate in the elevator ..
OK thats not too bad.. 150 more.. not much of a horror..
Then a few days later as I start to unpack my stuff.. I find the box's missing.. all my kitchen stuff.. missing.. my herman miller office chair gone..
I call and write and get nothing but a run around.... no one seems to know who the owner is.. everyone is nice.. but at the end of the day... they stole, or lost more of my stuff than I paid to have it moved. !
The Claim company just sent me back some form letter saying they recommend that american way not pay for anything... as there is no proof of loss..
Great. They steal and lost my stuff.. and can be held liable for it....
