I bought a pair of eyeglasses about 18 months ago. I was lured in by all the commercials on t.v. But, when I went into the store I had an eye exam, and then was old that I needed to pick out a pair of glasses. I started trying them on and noticed that the average price was about $215-$250. I asked about the "Two pair for $69.00"? Oh, those are for single vision and basicall for kids and toddlers. I ended up walking out paying over $400.00 for 1 pair. I waited for about a week and they called and told me they were in. I went in and picked up my new glasses. At that time I asked what the best way to clean them was? They told me to use a clean soft t shirt to clean them. Which is what I have been doing. I noticed that I was getting circular scratches on my lenses. I went in and bought one of there packages of pre-moist wipes. Got home and everyone of the hundred wipes were bone dry. By this time the damage was already done. A couple days ago, I went to put my glasses on and the right arm fell off. It did not break off but cam apart. I called to the store and asked if i could bring them in and get them fixed? they said yes. So I drove again to store(about 25 miles one way) and showed them to the receptionist. She looked up my account and said she was going to have manager look at them. I waited for manager and then he walked over to me and procedded to tell me that my lenses were in terrible condition and that I should get another pair instead and then purchase the contract with it and order a second pair. WTH, these cost me over $400.00 and I wanted to fix these instead. He took them over to the counter where I could not see what he was doing. About 5 minutes later he handed me my glasses and told me to try them on. What he had done was put shrink wrap around my arm on my glasses and fram and then told me that they will not close anymore. WHAT? I could not believe he did that. I finally had to ask him to put shrink wrap on the other side so at least they would match. I was livid.

I don not and have not worked at Americas Best. I have however been in the industry for over 25 yrs. As a consumer you have the right to spend your money how and where you please. To start with you choose to shop at the absolute cheapest place you could find without regards to quality. Second, once you felt like there was a "bait and switch" going on you continued to shop there. Then once you got your total you could have easily decided to shop else where. About 90% of frames out there come with a 1yr Defect waranty. As far as the lens go I have a hard time believing someone said to use your shirt instead of offering to sell you the proper cleaning products. Again though that company offers a lens/ frame protection plan which you denied obviously. So now.... You had a 1 yr waranty but had issues at a year and a hlaf. (6 months outside of waranty) and the kind gentleman did what he could to get your glasses back into a useable conditon. He also offered to sell you another pair WITH the frame and lens proection as well as discounts on other purchases and free eye exam. Yet here you are complaining about them. Its your responsibility to spend your money properly and to properly care for your eyewear, not theirs. They did what they could to help you. the rest was up to you. Take responsibility for your own actions!
