I'd been going to America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses for years. I liked the 2 pair sales. So I went into the store at 95th and Cicero to get the 2 pair for $69 deal. TV ads are running right now. There were signs hanging everywhere "TWO PAIR for $69" even their internet webpage ad says "2 pair with frames and single vision lenses and free eye exam for $69" but when it was time to pay I was told the cost was $198.95! and that the $69 is for 2 pair of frames without lenses! I've never heard of anything like that. What a rip off! and to wait until services are rendered and cost incured to spring it on unsuspecting people is very deceptive. What good would 2 pair of frames without lenses do anyone?
I asked the girl if she didn't get a lot of people unaware of this? She said, yes. This should stop. Had I known walking through the door they were going to pull me in with the 2 pair of eyeglasses for $69 ad I saw on TV Then charge me $198.95 I would have turned around and walked out! Just as their afraid everyone else would do. I think you are entitled to know what the charges are in advance just like everywhere else. I was very disgusted leaving there, but I had come from too far away and my current glasses, Which came from America's Best along with another pair that did cost $79.95 (for both pair) are in such bad shape.
