Some people on this site report being ripped off by tens of thousands of dollars, so my story here is no more than an anecdote - but the conclusion is the same: never shop here.
I call these people asking them for a specific little mixing device - I'll spare you the technical details here. They say they've got what I need and the price is around 100$.
So, I get in my car and get out there. An hour of terrible traffic later, I finally pull up to the store. The guy behind the counter, who looks like he's about 14, looks confused and intimidated. Am I scary? He's about to piss his pants, can't find the said item, and generally doesn't know what he's talking about. He says: "I can't help you, only Bob can." So I wait for bob. While I'm waiting, I ask the kid: do you have any wireless headphones? He says: "you mean, like, for listening?" Forget it, kid.
Bob gets off the phone and comes around. He looks irritable, ignorant, and by and large like he just dropped in the store for the first time. Takes him 20 minutes to find what he told me he had on the phone. Hands it to me in a torn, sloppily taped-together mangled box, with a price tag of 150$.
Wasn't this around 100$? "Around" is generally within 10-15 bucks, isn't it? I need 2 of these, so this is gonna cost me 100 more than I was told. He says: "oh, I meant, from a hundred and up." Well, then, the price could be 20 grand, I guess, couldn't it?
I need these items and I gotta go. So I buy em.
I get home and one is defective. It's spitting this nasty buzz. I look at my receipt and it says "no return, no exchange"?! Never mind that the store has a return policy, THIS particular item, is no return, no exchange? Well, surely if it's defective, they'll swap it out, right? But you already know the answer to that.
"No. We can send it to the factory for you." So, what, I have to wait 2 weeks? I need this today. So I kindly insist, "well, can't you send THIS one to the factory, give me another one, and sell the first one to someone else when it comes back?" I mean, work with me here. Duh. Hello. It is the year 2005. Where were you during the invention of customer service? No. The guy says: if you need it today, buy another one. And keep a spare one. A spare DEFECTIVE one? Is he listening to himself? I couldn't believe these people.
Like I said, it's a trifle. There are worse reports here, including some I've filed. But I thought it was worth letting you know: Ametron will rip you off. They do not care whether you are satisfied. They do not care if what you bought is unusable. They do not care if you hate them. They will take your money and run. Do not buy anything there, other than maybe a couple of AA batteries. For anything else - it fails and you're on your own.
