Don't expect to get any help from apple with lost/stolen items.  Their process is as follows:  I have to report the ipod stolen to the police (duh).  If the police find the ipod, they can contact apple's customer service, which will then contact apple's security dept.  I guess the police is to sent the ipod to apple.  Finally, the security department will return the ipod to me.

Ok.... If I report it stolen (with the s/n) the police would return it to ME - seeing as I have the store receipt, s/n and REPORTED IT STOLEN!  And yes, they can track when a Ipod is re-registered.  THEY JUST WON'T.  The police have to "find" it.  They won't even tell the police if it has been re-registered.

The rep spoke to me loudly and as if I were a red headed step-child that was annoying him as he played a video game.  He was completely rude and then when I became angry with being spoken to as if I were a child, he says "I know you're frustrated, but you need to listen."  I told him I was frustrated because he was speaking to me like I was mentally deficient.

I have sometimes had bad experiences with Apple tech support too, but this complaint makes no sense. When would a thief ever REGISTER their stolen property???

Just connecting the iPod to a computer is not even a network operation, so there is no possible way Apple could track that, and if Apple did track your private activities on your own computer, you'd be on here ranting against them for that.
