Applica bought an English electric tea kettle company: Russell Hobbs, and then produced Black and Decker electric kettles. The Russell Hobbs was under warranty and I wanted a replacement when it died, after six months of use. I had to send proof of purchase of the original kettle, in addition to the defective base of the kettle. The Black and Decker electric kettle  that they sent me was also defective and lasted all of two months. DO NOT BUY THESE KETTLES, THEY LEAK AND PUT THE CONSUMER AT RISK OF ELECTROCUTION.

I experienced delays, incompetence and general boobery in not only my first return of the Russell Hobbs kettle,  which took over a month to replace, but also in the cash refund I demanded for its replacement kettle, also defective: the Black and Decker model.  I sent a certified letter to the CEO of this company, who probably hides under his desk. The entire company dragged its corporate collective feet until I threatened them with the Attorney General's office of Consumer Affairs in my home state and Internet posting of my complaint.

This company is Florida based and that fact in and of itself, should send up a flag. Like either one or two thirds of appliances sold in our country, Applica products are made in THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA, a country not known for its high standards.  I urge all consumers to buy American when they can and to report the defective products of companies who not only send manufacturing jobs to a totalitarian country but who also sell defective, shoddy, merchandise.

DON'T BUY FROM APPLICA: THEY ARE BASED IN A STATE KNOWN FOR SWAMPLAND BUSINESS PRACTICES, GENERAL ILLITERACY AND ITS MANUFACTURING IS OUTSOURCED TO A COUNTRY THAT USES SLAVE LABOR.
