APX Alarm Security Solutions Blake Harber - salesman, Lied, ran credit without knowlege Provo, Utah
In May of 2009 I was working at one of the rental my LLC owns, when my renters told me they were signing up for an alarm system, but that it couldnt be installed unless me or my dad, had signed off on it.
They said the sales rep, a Blake Harber, would be by later that day and that he just needed our permission, because it wasnt company policy to install the alarm in rental properties.
When he came by he told me that and assured me I wouldnt be responsible for anything when I asked him why he needed my signature to sign off on it, my Dad stopped by to help with the work and he asked Blake about it, and he told my father the same story he told me and that he had told my renters.
Sometime during the hour plus long call he was on with his company rep, he wrangled my birth date and SS# from me and put it on the purchase agreement which I guess I signed. I was working, covered in paint and not thinking straight at all. I can only assume he used my SS to run a credit check which allowed him to make the sale.
6 months later in Oct. of 09 I received a collections letter from a company trying to collect on APX 's behalf. After 3 months my renters had tried to shut it off. They had been paying the bill out of there own debit account, but when they stopped, becuz Blake had told them they could cancel at any time, the full amount of the 3 year $1560 contract came to me.
When I called APX Alarms to complain about being scammed, they said Blake was no longer an employee and that whatever he had said was between him and me. They would not even offer a buyout.
The only solution they offered was for me to turn it back on and fulfill the contract I had unknowingly signed, which is impossible as i do not own or live in the home where the alarm is installed or get this, try to sell my account to someone else and have them take it over. I told them that ethically I couldnt do that as I saw them as corrupt and deceptive. Plus, how would I even go about setting up the alarm at my home or someone elses? I simply dont have the training or the know how.
My renters, who were dispalced Katrina victims, cant or wont pay as they dont have any money, and they have since moved out of state...
R U SERIOUS?

You mentioned how he "wrangled your birthdate and SSN" Wow! I am surprised at how salesman are getting these days! You should have called the cops! Charged him with an assault and had him arrested.
(The agreement you signed more than likely gave permission for you to carry the contract AND allow a credit check to be ran.)
The point being, I have several door-to-door salesmen come to my home every year, most are great and have great products to offer. (This being one of them.) However, no one forced you in signing that paper. If you were so busy, or weren't interested you should have said no and asked him to leave.
ATTENTION TO EVERYONE...READ BEFORE SIGNING, ANYTHING! DUH!
Be accountable for yourself and your actions.
