DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. Today, I rented a 8-10 passenger (1700 lb) deckboat for my husband's birthday. Ten of us (weighing approx 1400 lbs) got on the boat. Before we even started, the battery had to be replaced. Took 15 minutes, no big deal. So we set off for what was supposed to be a fabulous day of boating and made it 10 minutes before the boat stopped working. We called the marina and they did not apologize but said someone would be coming to pick us up. The owner of the marina arrived and hooked up our boat to his boat. He never apologized for what was the second inconvenience of the day. He was rude. He was patronizing and acted like none of us ever had been on a boat (although all 10 of us grew up on the lake). He towed us back and the guys at the dock (who actually were very nice) immediately looked at the prop and stated that the prop was stripped and one of the pinions in the prop was not correct - which caused the problem. The owner then came over and said that the problem was our fault because the boat was overloaded. There was no question that this was untrue. A cop out in the clearest sense. I interrupted the owner and told him it would've been nice if he had started with an apology before launching into an explanation that was clearly ridiculous. He stated "I refuse to apologize for something that is not my fault" and told me he would refund my money and we could call it a day. He walked off. After some attempted negotiation, he offered to let us pay full price to drive his 10 passenger, 1700 lb capacity pontoon. As excited as I was to rent another boat from this unprofessional guy, we declined. Everyone agreed that we would not reward someone this rude with our business. Find another place to do business. I have heard there are great people and better boats at the other rental places. This experience was a nightmare.

Aqua Sports Adventures is a well respected rental company with over 15 years of rental operations on Lake Lanier. Our goal is to provide an outstanding rental experience to all of our guests. To this end, we have unusually through policies and procedures relating to not only damages but also the prevention of damage through driver education and through equipment inspection prior to launch. In this case the guest admits that they were informed prior to launch of the inspection process. This process included a diagram of all damage prelisted on an illustration, as well as the actual damages circled on the piece of equipment with permanent marker. The equipment is then inspected by a company representative as well as the guest. Finally the guest is asked to sign the diagram stating that they have inspected the equipment and that the diagram is accurate. Guests are encouraged to ask questions and of course point out any unmarked damage, which is exceedingly rare. This process has a well proven track record of being accurate and reliable.
All of this effort is taken in order to avoid any type of "you did it, no I didn't" type of situation. In most cases all of this effort is un-needed as we launch hundreds of individual rentals per week and most weeks there are no damages of any kind. In an ideal world there would never be damages to our rental equipment. Damages are always a bad thing for all involved. They always represent a loss to our company, even if there are charges assessed to the guest. They never represent any type of positive revenue. However in order to provide high quality, new equipment to all of our guests we do insist that people are responsible for there own actions. Simply put if didnt leave with damage, and it returns with damage the guest is inherently responsible for that damage.
With all of this said Aqua Sports Adventures has literally tens of thousands of satisfied customers that we have served in our more that a decade and a half of operation. Many of these customers we see many times each summer season. We welcome anyone to come down and be our guest and join the tens of thousands of other people that have had a great boating experience on Lake Lanier.
