On August 29, 2017, my computer froze, and I received a pop-up warning that appeared to be authentic from Microsoft, indicating that my computer had been compromised with a porn virus.  The instructions were to contact them by phone to get help from a technician to resolve the problem.  He said that my current security package was no longer compatible with my computer and that he would set me up with one subcontracted by Microsoft for my area named Aspire Marketing.  Supposedly, the people are local, even thought the company is based in Sydney, Australia.  After working on my computer for an hour and puting some icons on my desktop, he was done.  Then, he said I had to pay either $317 for 5-years or protection or $469 for a lifetime, and he would contact my current provider to get a refund for time remaining on that contract.  I plan to contact Microsoft to report this.  Stupidly, I did authorize a charge to my Visa card, but called immediately to cancel it and get a new card once I was able to get back on my PC and Google Aspire Marketing where I learned it is a scam.
