Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I was contacted by Aspire several times and listened to the pitch. That was my first mistake. They promised to help me build on online business. I had been looking for this oppurtunity, so I was interested. The rep hooked into me and before I knew it, she had ordered a credit card in my name due to my high credit score (zero debt) and said I should use that for half of the 3000$ down. She had me quickly sign and that was that. It was very high pressure, misleading, and skewered information. I began to read some reviews right here on Ripoff, and then changed my mind. I knew I had 3 days to backout of the contract, which I did within 24 hours. I called the cc company, Discover, and asked them to stop payment. They said they could not stop it until it went through, so I should cancel by email so as to preserve the date and time of cancellation, which I immediately did. I also requested a copy of the contract since I never got one. At first Discover was for me and reversed the charge. Then they began to talk with Aspire, who wrote a letter to them, and changed their minds. I was charged $1500 dollars.

At this point I opened a dispute with Discover, and we went back and forth for a few months. They would rule in my favor, then Aspire would rebutt and they would rule against me. The cc finally told me I had not cancelled by mail, therefore was not in compliance with the cancellation policy of Aspire. They told me if I had anything new to add to the case they would revisit the dispute. A few weeks later I came across an email in my inbox that said I could try out the program (Aspire) for 2 weeks, and it showed I cancelled on the 13th day. I sent this to them, along with the original email of cancellation, the email for request of contract, and the names of several people who I spoke with after cancelling. I was told I needed to have the name and confirmation number of cancellation and to "go ahead and use the service since your going to be paying for it." I asked Discover what exactly, I was paying for, since I recieved no service at all. I told them in order to be a valid contract there must be a valid exchange of something of equal value. There was none. I asked them how, if I only had 72 hours to cancel, was I to do that by mail? I was told there is express shipping at the post office and should have paid for that. I told her I did not have the money to do that, and she said, well you had choices.

Since then, I had been contacted by a consumer advocacy agency, several times. They said they were going to prove the company was a scam and get my money back. (This ruined my credit.) They seemed very interested in my dilemma, and I emailed all the paperwork to the agent representing me. I have not heard from her since. I have left emails for the company, but as of today, there has been no response. I am unsure what to think. Since then, I also found the name and confirmation of the person who did my cancellation in my emails, just as Discover wanted, but am unsure how to proceed bc my dispute has been closed. It seems to me there is something wrong with this picture, but I am at a loss on what to do next. The information Discover asked for I was in possession of the whole time but didnt know it, bc the whole thing just got out of hand so quickly. I am not paying 1500$ and for nothing when I was within my right to cancel. I did what Discover told me to, then they would not accept their own request, but instead told me I should have done something different, which I actually had, but overlooked. And now some agency who was supposed to help me and solicited me ,is running around with all my private info. Like I told Discover, I have never had,nor used a credit card. This was my first time, and I hate to have my credit ruined bc I may, or may not, have made a mistake.

Aspire?Discover Credit Card

Well just to reiterate, I was tricked into opening an account and paying for online website creation services with Aspire. Although I tried to stop payment, Discover would not, or could not do that, so payment went through although contract stated I had 3 days to cancel. When I pointed out that fact, I was told I was to cancel by mail, and I had not, so it was not honored.

A consumer advocacy group called me about my case, and after submitting all information, I had not heard back from them. So I began calling and bugging them. After a few tries, I did get ahold of the main supervisor who gave me the number of the paralegal i had been working with. I called her and we reconnected.

She agreed to give it another go. We stayed in close contact after that, and upon some digging, she found some very important information. It would appear that the company Aspire, or also known as Professional Learning Center, had a actual court injunction against them.

The court had actually shut them down and forbid them from doing any more business, It was also part of the order that anyone who had a suit pending against them would automatically be reimbursed from funds siezed and frozen from Aspire. This was great news, considering I was bilked out of $3000, or to be more accurate, the Discover credit card had been bilked.

This meant since I had a pending suit against Aspire and Discover that I automatically won and would be issued the funds to pay back the monies Discover approved. However, my joy turned once again to dissapointment, as Discover would not honor the injuction or the court order, They instead sent me a letter saying I was, or would be sued by Discover if funds were not recieved.

I responded by writing a letter to all 3 credit burueas, stating Discover is trying to aquire funds through illegal means, and the reason they would not be paid. However, the Equifax company dropped the ball and sent several emails to me which I could not understand. They opened a case with a number, then after submitting my complaint/letter told me thank you for my response but since it had been 10 days with no reply from me, they would be closing the case.

I tried to call and email them that I had in fact, responded and that they had made a mistake, but the email replies were so vague and used such poor english I did not understand the directives they were giving. Also, the consumer advocacy group said they were going to file a complaint with the higher up, surgeon general, or something like that, I cant remember now, but they once again bailed on me.

I have tried to contact them with email, calling, and even a letter, to no avail. So I am left at sqaure one. My credit ruined, owing money for services I never recieved, and the Discover card threatning me for money they are not owed.. I will give any updates as more information is recieved, because this is far from over. I will not give up until this wrong has been righted.
