I received a letter in a hot pink envelope the other day. I read it and it said I won $250,000.00 dollars. Along with it was a check from Marvel Concerts, Inc for $3860.00 to pay for the insurance on the BIG CHECK via Federal Express. The envelope return address was from PO BOX 5999, Ottawa, Canada K6L 1P3. The address in the letter was 400 Peel Drive, Viewtmont, SK and said the drawing took place in Las Vegas on February 12. It had all the winning numbers and said I entered a drawing via Internet.

I started to check out the name Marvel Concerts and found nothing. I looked up ATLANTIC " Worldwide Sweepstakes and Lotteries " and found nothing saying it was a scam. I did put the check in the bank, but within about 15 minutes called the bank back to have them pull it and have it checked. If not I would have been liable for fees of numerous kinds if it was a scam. I called the girl back and she wanted me to call the bank back immediatly to see if there was a hold on it.

Well it was a scam and I caught it in time. It looked so real.

If you get a letter of this sort from Canada, they say you won and you get a check for insurance fees but are told not to tell the bank, (because you would be charged more taxes) IT IS A SCAM. Numerous letters are going out like this and by the time the check clears, but actually doesn't and you send the money for the insurance you are screwed and then the fees add up to a lot .

The girl on the other end when you call the number given, forgets to tell you that in the state of NEVADA sweepstakes and Lotteries are illegal. If you look it up on the Internet use the words sweepstakes and Lotteries Canada Nevada Scam

Take the letter and turn it into the Postal Service in your area. They will send it out. You can also turn it into the bank, because of the check enclosed.

Remember:

Canada letter saying you won a lot of money.

FAKE Check inclosed to cover insurance, no address or phone number on it, only company name.

If you Cash the check, they will tell you not to tell the bank, due to more taxes.

They will ask if there is a HOLD on the check if cashed.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Sweepstakes & Lottery winner.

Turn in to proper authorities.

Yep, even I got rooked into this, so it is pretty believable, I am so cautious.
