AT&T Home Entertainment "Missing cable equipment" Carrollton, Texas
I canceled my cable services when I moved out of my apartment (Lewisville, TX) and the cable rep told me that our apartment complex had pre-paid shipping boxes and labels via UPS in the leasing office.
So I boxed up my cable box and my dvr equipment/cables and dropped the boxes off at the leasing office. For some reason, I was fortunate enough to hold on to the tracking numbers (I split the equipment into two boxes). So after 2 weeks, I called AT&T to verify that my equipment was received and someone verified that it had been.
2 months pass, and my wife and I run our credit because we're ready to buy a home. AT&T had reported our equipment as stolen and supposedly sent us a bill for it, which we never received, and now there is a delinquent collections account on my report for $400.
Again, fortunately, I held on to the UPS shipping labels which contained the tracking numbers. I called up AT&T home entertainment, where the operator verified the equpment was there. 2 weeks later, I received a check from AT&T for my overpayment.
Long story short, keep your tracking numbers!! As you can read from previous customers, this isn't a coincidence, but I got lucky.
