I'm 18, and my brother is 16. Well we went out tonite to pick up everyone in our family's Christmas gifts as well as our girlfriends.
We pulled into Best Buy to go in and buy a phone for our dad. All of a sudden this white van comes up to us as we were walking in. And the guy mumbled something, and I said what, and then he backed up, introduced himself, and started telling us about how he received a few extra speakers in their order and was looking to sell them and that he was looking for some extra money for the night to go to the "titty bar". I thought well, it's worth a look.
He opened the back of his van, and there they were in a box. And he then showed us this picture in a magazine of these $1700 speakers and said that they were them. He said he could give them to us for $800. I said we don't have that kind of money, and instantly the price was at $400. We said no way still because we had $200 bucks a piece to spend on all of our family and everything. He said well, what's the most you could give us. I said, well at the very most, $100 for one of them.
He kept driving up the price, but I stayed at $100. He said something like, well you guys look like good kids and we started talkin sports and getting a long like friends, and he then pulls one of them out and gives it to us for 100 bucks. And I asked if all the hook ups came with, and he said EVERYTHING is in there, but maybe we would have to buy these cords for like 5 bucks. He even wished us a Merry Christmas and s**t. I thought d**n we got an $1600 deal and we felt great about it.
Then we went inside Best Buy and got our stuff, and we figured we actually would have another $100 to spend on the other one to complete the set, and just pull out some more money from the bank if we needed it later for gifts. We were going to go out and look for them at the strip club, but what do ya know, they were trying to "bargain" somebody else. We yelled out the window and asked if they could give us another one for $100 bucks.
The stupidest thing is now, is that we felt kind of cheap and like we were rippin them off because they barely let us have the last one for 100 dollars. He talked with his friend for a second, and then he's like well could ya throw in another 20 bucks for a case of beer(?). I thought well sure, why not, you guys are givin us a great deal ($3200 saved) and seem like great guys. So we bought the other one.
And when we got back, I went online to check if these were still $1700 or just a little bit under and about ready to call all my friends to tell them the great news. Then I came across nothing of any "audiofile" speakers, and then I land on your site. Almost the same stories, and I'm like no way, it couldn't be. These guys couldn't have done that to us.
So I then opened up the box, and here wooden cheap a*s lookin speaker. I was like oh my f***ing god, I couldn't believe it. I didn't even open the other one up yet I'm so pissed. I mean $220 bucks WASTED. No cords, nothin else in the box. I never even thought for a second that these guys were con artists or not working for Best Buy. Their van was actually comin right out from the back of the store, and while I was buying the first one, I asked him casually if he was tryin to rip us off, and I was only joking because these guys seemed like real nice guys.
It NEVER even crossed my mind that this s**t could happen. I mean we introduced, and were talkin about where we came from, sports, the holidays, and they told us we were good kids, and wished us a Merry Christmas multiple times. F*** them. I still can not believe this. Man there are truly some sad people in the world to do this to a couple of high school kids on Christmas.
