on 1/31/15 i purschased a fuel pump for 300 fr auto zone after weeks and several mecanhics it was determined by the diagonastic testing at the dealer that the fuel pump was not working. i had to pay to put it in wait 2 weeks w no transportation to mine it was bad pay to take it out and returned it on 2/15/15 for another fuel pump then had to pay to put it back in again and i am still waiting to be compensated for the labor charges i incurred, the time i was without a car to drive, charges i incurred from my mechanic as well as 2 other mechanics that both said it was the fuel pump and here it is some 2 and a half months and i am still waiting to be compensated for all my fees i have incurred while auto zone is now trying to put it off on the manufactuer Delphi instead of compensating me and dealing with the manufactuer /. I have been riped off my auto zone and will take my business else where !! DO NOT GIVE AUTO ZONE Your BUSINESS !!

We have three Issues to deal with.
1st Delphi warranty, There is no warranty on Labour to remove and install as stated on the warranty sheet provided with your part.
2nd Carry in or Customer supplied parts: Most repair shops will not install carry-in customer supplied parts. There are two reasons for this, 1st Most important, Customers expect the repair shop to bear the cost of warranty replacement of a Part not sold by them. 2nd The mark up on parts sales usually is 100% of the profit on repair jobs. 3rd: Many carry in parts come in a pretty Delphi or other brand name box but are inferior aftermarket junk.
3rd You worked yourself into a no win situation, I will allow that as most people you try to save as much as possible, but it backfired in this case. You need to lick your wounds and move on. You can't win here.

AutoZone and/or the Manufacturer are responsible for the part only. So if the part is bad, they should exchange the part under warranty. Which it appears that they did.
However, they are not responsible for ANY labor costs or "inconveinience" you may have been caused by it being bad. Oh and if it took several mechanics and the dealer to tell you the fuel pump was bad..perhaps you should look for other mechanics.
Look, I know exactly what you were thinking. You were probably quoted a price by a mechanic to put in the fuel pump that included parts and labor. You then probably "shopped" around and found that the price you were being charged for the part was significantly higher than you could buy it on your own. So you bought the part, and found a mechanic who would charge you a certain amount for installation. If everything works, this can be a good savings.
But here is the thing...the mechanic is only charging for installation they are not giving you ANY warranty on the part. The reason they charge a higher price for the part should be very clear now. As such if the part goes bad, they are going to charge you to take it out and a charge to put it back in, where if they used one of their parts all of this would have been covered under the mechanics warranty.
Unless you can find somwhere in the written warranty on the part says that they will pay for any installation charges or lost time, they are not obligated to provide you any compensation. If they do..great, but if they don't it is not a RipOff.
