On 4/15 I signed a contract with Avalon Home Services and Steve Arnold with work to commence on 4/27. He estimated that the job would take 3 weeks and that installment payments would be required based on work delivered. I paid an initial 10% deposit for the amount of $782.50 and the estimated amount for the total work was 7825.00. We wanted a copy of the contract and Steve said that it was his only copy but that he would put one in the mail the next day. This should have been the 1st clue!

4/27 Demolition began on the Shower.

On 4/28 I wrote another check for the amount $2200. This was to cover the tub and counter top manufacture.

On 5/8 a change order was created (delay of 3 days)

Check written for the amount of $568.92

On 5/8 check written for $2655 - Included all fixtures for 2 sinks, bathtub and shower. (These have not been delivered)

I have repeatedly tried contacting Steve since 5/20 as I was starting to get worried and no updates. This included his cp, work number and email address. Once no msgs were returned it prompted me to google his name and Avalon and 'ripoffreport' came up with multiple occurrences of homeowners having the same nightmare that I believe I am in.

The last time work was done was on 5/18. My bathroom is completely unusable with Toilet sitting in the middle of the floor. There are still building materials out behind my garage and various other stuff in the bathroom, closet and bedroom. Overall I'm out $6200 dollars.

Painting was the last thing that was ever done on my bathroom. I have been in contact with other clients of Steve Arnold and all have had horrible yet tragically similar experiences. My last correspondence with Steve was via a TEXT msg and whether he ever planned on finishing my job. He never responded, which is no surprise. Keep away from this guy you will so regret it. Do not be swayed by Steve's initial meetings where he seem personable, professional and trusting. When I asked to see one bathroom that he has finished that is similar to what he was proposing to me he could not. I should have been way supicious at this time. I contacted ServiceMagic the company that recommended Avalon and he NOW supposedly off of their list. They have repeately tried to contact Steve as well, but to no avail. I have gone ahead and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are proceeding with trying to resolve my issue. Steve has operated under another company name called Avalon Tile and Stone'. This company on BBB has a "D MINUS" rating. For Avalon Home Service his current rating is a "B", with one un-settled claim against him.

Since Filing this report Avalon has resumed working on the bathroom and completed a major portion of the painting. I spoke to the owner and his version of what has been happening and the problems he has had with the Tub / Countertop manufacturer. Keeping my fingers crossed and wanting to believe that everything will be ok. Avalon's workmanship has not been issue as I am happy with the work that has been performed.
