AY Transport San Jose ripoff won't pay up for damaged furniture dirty liars san jose California
The same old story from AY Transport and National Moving Network.......
1. The initial estimate was for $1000 dollars for moving furniture from Bakersfield, CA to Lafayette, LA. I ended up paying $1700.
2. The pickup guy arrived alone. I was away on my honeymoon at the time, so my brother in law (who has cancer) had to let the mover into my appartment. He ended up actually helping to move the boxes, even though he was in no physical condition to do so. The mover damaged the floor in my kitchen using his cart.
3. The deal was changed to cash only, and I had to change my honeymoon plans, driving from Napa valley to San Jose to avoid my furniture being held ransom.
4. The furniture was delivered. Surprisingly, nothing missing, but all my IKEA furniture damaged to some extent. I submitted a claim form.
5. I received the standard reply:
Please be advised that you have signed that all your belongings were tendered to you. This signature is on the bottom of each page of the inventory in which it is said in BIG, RED letters: All claims for missing items and exterior damage are to be supported by exceptions noted above.' It is the legal duty of the shipper (i.e. the customer) to read it and mark ON the inventory the missing and damaged items. Since your claim for damaged/missing items is not supported by marks on the inventory it is denied.
I never actually signed for the goods, it waas my landlady. AY knew I was still in California, so I know that this is their standard reply.
I am trying for arbitration via moving.org, but I can't believe these guys are affiliated. I feel sorry for everyone who has dealt with these people, and hope the state of california shuts them down soon.
