All banks reserve the right to set-off. And everyone has a sob story. At what point is one person's tale of woe more deserving than someone elses? The banks are a for profit business just as your business is. So, if a customer who hasn't payed you in four months called you who owed 14 thousand dollars on their account and told you "sorry, I can't pay you or commit to a payment arrangemant" your choice would be to do what? Say, sure no problem. I don't need to pay my bills or employees. With your payment track record, they were more than patient. You should have pulled the money out of your personal account after the first call.
