I have been a BoA customer even when they were Nations Bank In Garland Texas. I have suffered many ripOFF actions at the hands of them as well. Weather it be by holding deposits, the fraudulent way they say the check card takes out the transaction right away or by in propper misleading pamplets about on-line banking and it's ease in knowing the activity of your account every minute of the day.

Currently I have a account adjustment complaint. Yesterday my account balance was 6.95 cents according to on line banking and according to my bank book.Yesterday was Jan 8, 2003. I had withdrawn 50.00 from my 56.95 balance on the 7th of January. But this morning I note that they slid a check through for 1157.00 before the 50.00 atm withdrawl obviously to obtain an additional 30.00 overdraft fee. I am on direct deposit and tonight I will have 1740.00 deposited into my account and their ploicy is deposits before credits so we will see how they return the 1157.00 and then deposit my money resulting in yet another 30.000 fee and 25.00 fee from my apartment complex.

You would think that customer service would know how to help you. In the past I have been notified that On line banking is different from atm and different from tellers in traditional banking. As far as I am concerned BoA is one company. If they can't manage them selves and our money why are they allowed to be a bank backed by the FDC? I am giving them my money to use in return for what? Additional fees and low balling tatics to secure thier financial future and ruin mine.

I will go to another bank only because you need a bank to get by in this world.

The bottom line, and I don't mean to sound harsh - Balance your checkbook. When you signed your signature card with BoA, you took on a certain responsibility. When you don't keep up with your transactions, it not the fault of the bank but your own. The rules work the same at all banks. If you don't have the money, don't write a check or use your checkcard. Knowledge is power, so let me impart some upon you. Take the 2 seconds it takes to write down your transactions right after you swipe your checkcard or write a check. When you use your checkcard, the money doesn't then magically go to the merchant. They have simply authorized the amount (much like verifying funds when a check is presented). The funds are held or suspended for a period of time due to the authorization which is usually 24 hours for most. The money is then collected at another time. Knowlege is power, so I hope this will help.
