Unfortunately, when purchasing an items such as bedding, situations like this happen frequently. Product as large as bedding must be shipped via common carrier (ie: tractor trailer). If you read your deal closely, it will say FOB (origin city) or the city in which the company you purchased from is located. When something is shipped FOB (free on board) origin city, any damage or claims resulting are between the destination customer and the freight company. The seller only acted as an agent between you and the freight company. If the packaging was visibly damaged, as you stated, then you had the right to make the driver wait while you unpacked it and inspected it. Never, ever sign for a package that has visibly damaged outside packaging. You signed for it as in "good condition" and there is nothing that you can do to get compensation. The seller won't offer you anything and the trucking company has documentation signed by you saying that the package arrived in "good condition". To avoid future issues...buy locally!! Just think...you live not 30 minutes from one of the largest Sealy mattress plants in the world and you order a mattress from Texas. How weird is that?
