I went to best buy and decided to get an open box washer and dryer set, heck I just wanted to save some money. I looked at the washer i wanted and it said i would get a 50 dollar gift card for buying this open item

i asked if i could use the gift card towards the purchase of the dryer. i was told that was fine as long as i didnt purchase them on the same day.

the cashier rang up my purchases and it came up to over 100 dollars more than it should have been, so i instantly asked whats the extra for she said sales tax and your gift card!

i said why do i have to pay for a gift card that is supposed to be free? noone could answer my question so they missed out on a 13 hundred dollar sale trying to be slick! (tee-hee)

Actually they missed out on the sale because the operations team wasn't too bight. Was was supposed to happen, is the computer automaticly takes out the cost of the gift card from the linked item (washer dryer). The gift card can't be "free" to the system because it is programed such that cost=value so a $0 cost gift card = $0 value added to gift card. Sometimes the system doesnt automaticly do it correctly (maybe bevcause it was an open box), so they just take it out manually. Not a big deal. I promise no one was trying to rip you off, the people there just wern't too bright.
