Boone NC Merchants Association Parking scam - Boone Doggle more profitable than Moonshine Boone North Carolina
Boone has added to Boon Doggle!!
My wife and friends recently visited Boone for shopping and site seeing. While there, they were introduced to a scam reminiscent of the High Sheriff speed traps of the 1940's and 1950's.
A new Boone Doggle that is more profitable than Moonshine.
Here is what happened:
My wife and friends parked on the city streets, and went shopping. While buying items from the first store, they were told by "Frick" "Don't worry about the parking ticket, just give it to me and I'll put a stamp on it." Which they did. Then they went to the second store, and while buying items from the second store, they were told by "Frack" "Don't worry about the parking ticket, just give it to me and I'll put a stamp on it." Which they did.
Then comes the "Parking Gestapo" (disguised as McLaurin Parking Company) who sends, to our home, a demand for payment. When the 'demand' is questioned, the city "Bureaucrat" responds, "It is not our fault, the City Council made the rule," AND then ‘double downs’ on the demand for payment with a double penalty (which was paid).
I am from the mountains of North Carolina and I know a SCAM when I see it and this Boone Doggle is more profitable than Moonshine.
But, not to worry, merchants of Boone; THERE ARE MANY OTHER MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES THAT DO BUSINESS THE OLD WAY, "THEY EARN IT!!!!".
