My husband and I financed in Oct., 1996, a used 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT from Brad Benson - the ex-NFL football player. He should have became a football coach instead of an auto dealer. At least it would have been a subject he already knows a little about. We drove away from his car lot naively unaware that a "time-bomb" was installed in the car.
Two years later, approximately in the month of November, or December, 1998, our automatic transmission "blew out". We were on a highway at night when the engine began "racing" as if we were speeding, but we were doing the exact opposite - "slowing down" to a crawl. My husband had to maneuver the car from the far left lane to the shoulder. We were fortunate we didn't cause a "pile-up", the results, indeed, would have been tragic and disastrous.
Upon taking the car back to Brad Benson, the service mechanic inspected the transmission and to our astonishment, he informed us that it was "completely corroded." He further stipulated that he was surprised that the transmission didn't "blow out" sooner. We were furious, to say the least. How could this have happened? We got more angry at the whopping $2,000.00 price tag of a re-built transmission to replace the faulty one.
It took us a month to "scrape" up" the money and on January, 1999, Brad Benson deposited my personal check for payment and we were finally able to take the car home. My husband paid a couple of hundred dollars towards the rebuilt trans., but after I received my disabled veteran's check, I was able to pay the bulk of the balance - between $1,500 and $1,800.00.
On February 9, 2006, I read with disdain and shock about how Mitsubishi Motors of Japan had been fraudulently concealing to government officials and the unsuspecting consumers about defective parts they'd installed in their vehicles for over TWO decades. This is unbelievable. Needless to say, hundreds of innocent people could have been seriously injured or killed as a result of Mitsubishi's corruptive greed and blatant disregard for human life!
On February 13, 2006, my husband called Brad Benson auto dealership and a rep. said that they could send us a document but the document won't stipulate what repairs were done to the car. Now, does this make any sense? We've never received this "mysterious" document as of yet and never will. I even e-mailed Mit. Motors Corp in JAPAN, and their response was "sorry. Yeah, they're exactly that - sorry - and greedy businessmen, just like the ceo's of corps. such as: enron, imclone, adelphia, and tyco. They take, take, and take some more, leaving consumers and employess out in the cold. How much money does it take to satisfy their warped and lustful greed? My goodness - this is terrible as to how people with power can just walk over people with little or no power and incessantly get away with it. Sadly, myriads of consumers don't know whom to turn to for justice, and some are too busy with other aspects in their lives and others are petrified to confront the "evildoers".
We finally traded in this "lemon" in September, 2000, to Liccardi Ford, Inc., 1615 Rt. 22, Watchung, NJ. The Mit. had continually plagued us with other problems and we had enough.
These cars with automatic and manual transmissions should have been recalled, but that would have proved to be exorbitant, costly and overwhelming for a conglomerate, whom generates billions in revenues via stocks and sales, such as Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to overcome.
Everyone I spoke to regarding this matter says, "Oh, it happend a long time ago." I usually reply, "Yes it was, also Mit. Motors Corp. for over two decades systematically cheated and lied to unsuspecting consumers, don't you think that span was over a long period of time"? I also retort, "It's NEVER too late to rectify an injustice that was committed against a person".
One more note. I paid for a Vehicle History Report for this 1994 Mit. 3000GT on-line, last month, and I saw that beside the prompt: "rebuilt" the answer annotated was: "none". See, now you can't trust those vehicle history reports that we purchase either because some dealerships will also "doctor" the report. It's all a scam!!
What are you afraid of Brad Benson? You weren't afraid to be on the offensive line of the football team after the quarterback yelled, "hut", which could have caused you permanent injuries, as that piece of "lemon" you sold to us could have permanently injured or even killed us.
"Tell the truth and shame the devil", Brad Benson. Don't you have a conscious? Don't you possess an ounce of decency? Do you care for your fellow man? Maybe the years of pounding you took while playing football made your skull thick and muddled your brain waves. You know my name, address, phone number, and e-mail address, and, of course, you know what I deserve:
MY REIMBURSEMENT!!!!
Thank you so much Ed and to the staff of Rip-Off Report.Com for your time and for allowing the cheated consumer to "get back" at these "sharks."
