I hired Brock Bunge to build me a down stairs bathroom. He bragged that he had done a lot of piping work and was very good at it. I told him since all the walls had to be ripped out, I asked him to copper pipe the area thus replacing
the galvanized steel. He never finished the bathroom but was paid in full for the job. I asked him to come back and finished the job but he refused, telling me repeatedly that he has to do other work for other people even though I paid him for this and prepaid him on other jobs.

I had told Brock that I wanted to see the work he had done and take pictures of it before he put up the dry wall. He told me he would do it and I repeated myself that I wanted to be called when he was done with the pipe jobs. He never called me for this and I was not able to see the final job. He was still paid in full.

Another framing job was started afterwards in a room next to the bathroom and we discovered that there were 4 galvanized steel elbows installed over copper pipe. A city inspector, Chuck Strong, came to inspect the framing done in the room and after looking at Brocks handywork, he said it violates city code on many counts, and I need to fix it. I had to hire a real plumber to do this work and it wasnt cheap. He installed the right kind of copper pipe, type L, and removed the galvanized steel elbows.

Brock picked the pipes and I paid for them. He picked type M which I didnt know at the time but this is forbidden in plumbing use in many cities in southern California. He connected the old galvanized steel elbows(4) to the copper which creates electrolysis thus weakening the copper and this pipe would last for one year or less. Than water would spew out.  I would than have to tear open the walls and take care of the resulting rot. He also claimed that many contractors use CPVC cause soldering and welding is dangerous. When I told the plumbers that came to quote me  the job, they kind of laughed at this.

He also screwed up the job when he disconnected the ground wire to the pipe and this has the potential to cause massive electrical problems. In short, Brock Bunges work posed a danger to the occupants of the house.

He used the wrong copper, reinstalled the old galvanized steel elbows which he was forbidden from doing by me, and finally managed to disconnect the ground wire which the code requires to be connected to the outgoing pipe. Last but not least, he did not tie them down so that now, they could rattle and roll before busting up. The code requires them to be fastened down.

How many ways can one so called General Contractor screw up a job. There may be some incompetence in this job but mostly, it was negligence and fraud. The use of type M copper is easier to work with but is not the right one to use. Obviously this General Contractor could care less as to what he was doing.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONTRACTOR TO BE AVOIDED.
