Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We went into the Pet Store in Brick.  The only sign they have outside is Puppies.  There is nothing we saw that identified them as Breeders Association of America.  We looked at a puppy and purchased her for about 1/2 of the initial asking price.  (you can bargain down)  On the way home,  we noticed she had an upper respiratory infection.  We are able to get a refund for vet expenses  from their insurance provider (per our contract) once we file a claim.  The things you need to know before purchasing a puppy from a store front.  1)They are in the business of making money.  2) They do not screen homes like a local breeder would/should. 3) We did not want to obtain a dog from what we consider a puppy mill or an inidividual who breeds for profit or breeds mass quantities of dogs.  We were led to believe that the breeder we obtained our puppy from was a small time breeder.  This is not the case.  We were shown a picture of a home and the biography of the husband and wife.  We were told the dog was bred at the home. That is not the case.  Our dog was bred in a large facility behind the home where they breed multiple breeds for profit.  Again,  Yes, they were bred on the property the home is located on.  However, they were not bred in the home as we were led to believe.  4)  should you contact the store in regard to your puppies health and have any complaints - they may not listen.  You have paid for your dog and they are finished.  5)  If you suggest to them that they need to be more forthcoming to future clients  with information about the breeder, they may get offensive and not listen to you.  Be prepared for condescending answers and screaming.  Be prepared for them to interupt you while you are speaking.  Be prepared for a total waste of your time.  As I stated, they have made their money and they are done.  6) You can find a healthy puppy from a local breeder or rescue association in your area.  Chances are the dog will not come home with a respiratory injection which will cost you over $100 in unexpected vet expenses.  The puppy will probably come home with such infection because your puppy and the other puppies they are housed with have not been immunized with the Bordatella vaccine.   Additionally, the pet store may not tell their clients that they have an outbreak of a respiratory injection in their store.  They do not want to turn away those people looking for puppies.  7) The  local breeder will most likely be able to show you the parents of the puppy you are purchasing.  This is very important!  You can determine personality, etc from seeing the dam and sire. 8) You will definitley over pay at the local pet store.  Plan on paying twice as much if not more than the local breeder will charge for the same puppy.  9) The puppy at the store may not have received all of the immunizations they are supposed to have received.  The local breeder will not only allow you to come into their home to see the conditions their dogs live in and your dog was bred in but, they will also be able to provide a thorough immunization record.  10)  Learn from our mistakes - We broke every rule we ever set for ourselves by purchasing from a pet store.  BUYER BEWARE!   Know your rights and search your local rescue association or local breeder before you over pay and come home with a sick puppy and you have no way of knowing anything about his/her background.
