Complaint Review: Career Network Inc - Orlando Florida

I have been unemployed since last year when I was forced to resign to complete a college degree.  Because I'm a military spouse we move frequently and I wasn't able to get my previous job back since we are moving.  Since arriving to our current location (six months and counting) I've been trying in vane to get a job.  Over the last couple of weeks I've started posting on more and more wepbages to try and get a job. 

This morning I received an email from careernetworkjobs.com and even though my radar was on that this could be a scam I opened the link and it appeared to be a real job listing similar to ones I've seen on other pages.  I submitted my contact information (which should be on my resume) and dialed the number.  I was told the "interview" could take as long as 25 minutes yet mine only took 3 minutes.  When I asked which company was interested in me I was told that information was confidential.  I responded that this felt like a scam because no company is going to remain confidential and the lady stated that most do. 

I then took to the internet to look and see if my gut feelings were true and I found this page.  After reading through this page I think I know why my "interview" didn't last longer... I have a Master's Degree.  If they are looking for people to continue their education I'm not interested in completing mine. 

I too am thankful that I don't put anything crucial on my resumes.  I block people on my cell phone and I can file spam with my email.  I just hate that I'm still looking for a job and over the weekend I was really thinking I had a chance to start working full time again.

Yesterday I was looking through jobs on simplyhired.com which brought me to "ABC Employment" which I could find no information for on google but I went through their creepy page anyway because I'm desperate for a job. This morning I get an email from "John Walker" telling me to sign in to career-network to "confirm my availability" to fill the position I applied for. Website is exactly the same with a different name and logo so I didn't go through with the process any further after logging in. I'm registering my phone number with the national do not call registry, hopefully that will help?

I keep seeing these complaints posted about this company, but has anyone actually been harmed by the company? I've yet to see anyone post who has. not saying they aren't, but I have applied for a few jobs on their website, been "verified" and the worst I can come up with is that one I said ok to the education info, I got a bunch of emails and calls from the schools who's info I requested. I got a lot more of that type of contact when I was a senior in High School years ago. I was never asked for anything that couldn't be found in a phone book, or online directory. Not asked for SSN (which, by the way is easy to find. if you've ever bought real estate, its on a public document), not asked for money or credit card info. No one can do more than annoy you through an email. As a former supervisor and recruiter before I was laid off, I can't tell you how many times I would call an applicant that had applied on Hotjobs/Monster/Craigslist and found that it was not the correct number. I'm sure that there were some fine people who missed out on job opportunity because of it. If indeed the "verification" service that they offer the employers on their job board is legit, then I think its brilliant, if not - well, that's why I have seperate email accounts for my job search. I'm certainly not defending Career Network, but I'm also looking for any proof of harm.

I came across this site today after trying to do some research on this company as well. I'm been loosely looking for a new job for a year (while still currently employed) and after about the gazillionth time of filling one of these out, I thought to myself..."self...why hasn't someone called?" I get about 7 calls a week from other companies that have found me on careerbuilder and monster, so how is it that I can fill one of these things out over this much time and NOT one call! And the whole "continuing education thing"...you guys hit the nail on the head! That's gotta be another part of the scam. What a way to phish for people! But I gotta say...the whole thing about the California school system person that is working on this stuff...that was funny. I know EVERY time I look at the end of the e-mails from them and see some OTHER name on there as Sr..blah blah and then that horribly "copy/pasted" company name and address below it that you can't paste here because it's a picture! How sad...this person can't include that in their "signature". And they're "rebuttle" is the same everytime on here and for MONTHS they've been declaring "technical difficulties" Whatever!!!!!!!!! I have spent the past 7 years in the customer service industry. All have been spent with the same company. I was promoted 5 times in my first 3 years. I was asked to interview for my own office, running two offices from one location. Yet, after responding to over 45 posts on Craigslist and filling out the appropriate information on the links provided by the response e-mails, I haven't heard back regarding a single position. Is that POSSIBLE? Yes. However, it is incredibly unlikely. Not even one interview request? Not one reference check? Come on. Thank you, "Career Network," for wasting over 20 collective hours of my time, when I could have been inquiring about REAL employment possibilities. In the meantime, I'll continue to filter through job postings. Thank you in advance for what is sure to be more wasted time, since I'm unable to tell whether any listing is legitimate or more of your scam. And if, by chance, you are a real firm, then prove it. Get me a job.

I mean if they're a reputable company there's no reason for them to be registered through Network Solutions. The WhoIs, gives the address as being in Virginia. It's the address for NetworkSolutions though and not careernetwork.us.com. This is one giant scam, there is and never will be a log in. That's why they have the "We value and support higher education. If you would like information about educational opportunities in your field, choose below. I would like to receive information about higher-education opportunities. I do not feel I would benefit from educational opportunities at this time." Portion on every website domain they use. I've caught this company using other businesses names before and phone numbers. I called the companies names and phone numbers they claimed to be from. Of course no one there had heard of them. Even if you click the box that you do not want to be contacted for higher education...You will still be contacted from various online colleges and universities because this company just sells them your information anyways. This is fraud.

If you've been using craigslist to look for jobs, this is the main area these culprits are posing as employers. They post a classified on craigslist for a certain position, you reply to the craigslist e-mail, then they start their attempt to get more information on you. Looks like I won't be using craigslist for job listings anymore!

I've been receiving multiple e-mails from these people. I'm not sure how they found out that I'm looking for a job. Their e-mails are so vague about the positions and that was the first clue that I felt something is up. When you go to their webpage to complete the application process they ask about your credit history and whether or not you want information on improving it and on educational programs. So I'm thinking, ok these people are just using job recruiting as a front to advertise credit reporting and online colleges or something so when I fill out my application I give no personal references except my own phone #. I'm not sure what this company's angle is but don't trust them.

I too have filled out several pages of information on careernetworks. The only thing that gives me a measure of comfort about my information being used for illegal purposes is that i'm a member of lifelock.com. If you think your information may be used against you then I suggest becoming a member. The price is very reasonable and it works. I'm not an employee of lifelock, just a happy customer. Think about it.

Who only sends out bot emails with a PO Box attached and no phone numbers are listed any time at all? they have another phishing site called satellitecareers.com too. What they want you for is your "references". When you go to Craigs list or Yahoo jobs and reply to one of the their cleverly worded job postings they immediately send you a link to their application portal where you fill out some basic info and submit it to them. The hook is when they "reply" to your basic application and say how you "FIT" their necessary profile for the job listing and ask you to log back on and provide more info which includes your references. You are supplying them with a personal or better yet a business reference, their phone number, and most importantly their email address. Wow!!!! how awesome is it for a trolling phisher to be given a direct contact to one of my business associates so that they can use......or sell.......this information to others for many purposes. I know this first hand because one of my former business partners received an email from careernetworks.com about my reference and he is now getting various types of spam because of it. Nice job Career Network Inc....very slick, very clever, but now you've been turned over like a turtle in the sun.

I understand your frustration. I have been in contact with the IT department and they know about your issue. Specifically, you've applied for at least two different positions through the system and when you attempt to login, the system doesn't know which application to access, so the site breaks. It's something they're working on, but it's much more complicated than it seems. This is also one of the many reasons why we use multiple sites as part of the Career Network. It helps technical tracking while we are building the Web site to have these different points of reference. Also, we are testing another business model we will be marketing exclusively to other businesses -- but, we need to get these tech issues worked out first. IT has checked the status of your application. It was received and sent on to the appropriate employers. From this point, it will be the decision of the employer whether you are called in for an interview. Thanks for bearing with us through these growing pains. We launched thinking that all of our tech issues were ready to go, but you just never know for sure until you put it in front of the public to see who they will interact with the site.

Since the rebuttal posted to my original ripoffreport, to date I have emailed three times to this www.careernetworkjobs.com Florida 'business' whose existance is in question, and even though they posted a 'rebuttal', I have yet to get any response from them from any of my three emails! Something is WRONG here folks. Furthermore, they contacted at least 2 of my references (that I asked to provide along with my online application and resume for the original Payroll Position they had posted.) Both of these two references contacted me to say that they had responded to the inquiry and told me that the link in the email did not work. Each time they tried they ended up at the 'homepage' for the careernetworkjobs.com website. Since I have had no response-communication, reply or phone call to my last three attempts, my position still stands that I am very suspicious that this is a bogus employment company whom is phishing for personal contact information. I am watching my credit report very closely now. Additionally to increase my suspicion check this out: In my hotmail email account today, I received a 'Job Offer' the sender thought I'd be qualified for, (even though I have no resume using this email.) In was obviously Junk mail but I was curious so I copied their web address (from the link I was directed to so I could review this job on their website). However when I pasted the web address into two different browsers it took me me to www.careernetworkjobs.com homepage. I tried searching for this job but found nothing even close. So again I attempted unsuccessfully to login (using my previously given username and password.) Now I am wondering why if you're so legitimate of a business then why do you have to market yourself under another bogus employment-recruiter company name (theemploymentexpresspro.com)? We're sorry you feel that our services do not meet your job hunting needs. As I said earlier, we are a new company currently working out the kinks in our system. I have checked our site and do not find any language that specifically says we are "hired by employers." If that language did appear on our Web site, it was obviously in error. We are contracted by employers to work as an agent to repost their open positions on our sites as well as actively e-mail those positions to interested parties, but no money exchanges hands between us and the employers. Before we do this, we must have a signed contract from the employer giving us express permission to do so. With regard to our e-mail systems. Basically, our outgoing system is a different technical beast than the one you use everyday. This is not uncommon. If you receive paperless bills from any number of companies you will see that they do not accept replies to that same email address and you must contact them through an alternate address. Additionally, the department that sends out jobs is not the same that would be equipped to handle any of the issues that arise. A different department works on technical glitches, and still another on customer issues. Our contact e-mail is found on the site under the Contact Us link, and is a clickable link. We will begin to have phone assistance just as soon as volume justifies the expense. I too received an e-mail similar to the one in the first post. I found it very interesting that I couldn't reply to the e-mail address, rather I had to copy/paste my e-mail to the address offered in a rebuttal here. Also, you claim here in the rebuttal that your services are free to both job seekers and employers, yet on your web site you claim to be hired by employers. That seems like a contradiction. In case you don't get my e-mail, I'm contacting the PA Attorney General's office on Monday to double check a few things about your so-called business.

Your website reeks of scam. I don't know what kind of scam--maybe you are trying to phish for personal data or maybe you are hunting for Nigerian Scam victims. But you are up to something. Here are a few reasons how I can tell: 1. The "about us" page is full of B.S. a. "Career Network is one of the largest gateways to employment opportunities on the Internet" No it's not. nobody's ever heard of it b. "Hundreds and thousands of resumes are posted on job boards daily" No they aren't. Like I said, nobody ever heard of this site. I bet even monster.com doesn't have this many new resumes posted daily. c. "First of all, Career Network is able to offer their service to employers and job seekers at no cost to them because our revenue comes from advertising dollars. That being said, it's ALWAYS free for employers and job seekers." There is no advertising on the site, so I call B.S. on this. 2. The copy on your site looks like it was written by a semi-retarded 9th grader attending California public schools. 3. There is no real contact information for you anywhere on the site. Email addresses and comment forms DON'T COUNT as contact information I recommend that nobody give any personal information to this slick operator. If it's too late don't sweat it too much. If you get offered a job be VERY suspicious. Especially if it involves cashing counterfeit checks and wiring money to "agents" in Nigeria ;-)

Thank you for your Consumer Response and to the careernetworkjobs.com who've replied to my concern of being scammedm I am one of the concerned job applicants whom filed the report above here on www.ripoffreport.com To date I have not been able to login, nor can I get an email thru to you as it comes back undeliverable. (2x) Also when I Googled your business name for company information I found nothing to attribute you as a legitimate recruiting agency, nor was your company was listed in any type of online business directory such as Yellowpages.com either. What did pull up was scam reports, just like the one I read on ripoffreport.com (http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/346/ripoff0346720.htm) Plus when I just googled it again there are more at http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=careernetworkjobs.com+scam%3F There are so many scams out there it is scary to think someone has your personal contact information and may try to cause you harm such as identity theft, its very scary. I did just send another email to both of the addresses I have found as I would still like to contact you regarding the payroll job that you had posted. I would hope that you would please respond as to date I am unable to login or make any contact with your business regarding the payroll position I was originally applying for. If your really on the legit up-and-up, please show the rest of us like you have the other blog post on here that you are indeed as you say. Additionally you might want to list yourself as a business online (e.g. Yellowpages.com) so people can find you.

I experienced the same problem. I was contacted about an accounting job by this company and immediately filled out the form. I then got the same response you did and tried to log on. Got the same error message. I freaked out. Did the Google and saw nothing. I tried the domain and didn't find much else. So, instead of letting my imagination get the better of me, I actually tried the contact link and emailed them. They got back to me a little more than a day later, a little long to be sure but not unreasonable. They corrected the problem and I was able to log on with no problems. I didn't hear anything back about the job for a week so I googled the company again, and this time I found this report. It was only then that I started to get a little nervous about what happened with my resume. Until I checked the mail this morning that is. There was a letter from the accounting firm stating that they received my resume and that after review I wasn't quite what they were looking for and they'll keep my resume on file for six months. Very standard brush off letter. Point is though, Career Network kept up their end of the bargain, they sent my resume to the company and that company reviewed it. Am I disappointed I didn't get the job? You bet. Do I feel ripped off? Not at all. I did email them the link to this rip-off-report though. Obviously, this is a big problem with the logins and they need to fix it so other people don't get scared.
