I usually consider myself an intelligent consumer. In this case I was a sucker.
I was contacted and told that I was eligible for a free cruise. Yes right there is where I usually hang up. I don't know if it was because I thought I had heard of this particular cruise line or what.
Long story short I thought that because I was told that the cruise industry was having trouble booking cabins that we were being offered to fill the ship to become indulged customers so they can fill the boat and have us as walking advertisements for the industry.
What I tried to make clear in the 1st few phone calls was that we had no way of getting down to this cruise from Milwaukee to Fort Lauderdale. We were then told that airfare was indeed included. In subsequent confirmation phone calls I was assured this was the case. Now that we are a month away from the trip that we had booked the ROUND TRIP AIRFARE turns out to be nothing more than a two-for-one voucher. That they would get this out to us right away. Then it turns out that while the cruise did not have blackout dates, the voucher does and though I have still to see it, was told by one of the many many many representatives that I sat on hold to speak with, that it WAS ESSENTIALLY WORTHLESS!
We were also promised there will be no sales pitch. Well, after spending precious time on hold, shifted from one department to another, customer service, the bonus department, the rapid fire Spanish language representative, etc. etc. etc. I was told by "JT" - supervisor - who said that there was indeed A SALES PITCH OF FROM 2-4 HOURS!!! It is a time share!!!
We were also assured that we would have a cabin with a balcony as one in our party is extremely claustrophobic. , come to find out the "BAHAMA CELEBRATION" is an old ship that has ONLY INSIDE CABINS.
When I thought I had finally gotten through to sales supervisor, he said that I would get a full refund. Then I was put on to confirm my refund and talk to VANTRICE said that the supervisor that I had just spoken with JT had left the building. That there will be no refund!!!
This is really only the beginning. But if you are contacted by CARIBBEAN CRUISE LINES Do not let them go beyond the first sentence and hang up! They have very cleverly set up a web presence that is deceitful and misleading.
Here is a similar experience to mine:

Mine was a bit different in that I was asked to be part of a marketing group. They played on the very problem that the cruise industry is having right now! That they were having a hard time filling cabins and that they needed us to help fill the boat and be walking advertisements for the company!! DON'T BITE!!!
Can't the media bite on this as I am sure that their are more of us that have been suckered out there! They seem to be operating on a very thin line of the law!! But somehow they must keep finding suckers - like me!
