Living Social was running a deal on travel hammocks through Cautivadora. I purchased TWO of those in the beginning of July.  The terms and Service stated all purchases made from a deal site would take 4-6 weeks for delivery.  I've tried several times via email and phone to confirm an anticipated shipping date, I never was able to receive a response.

 

August 2nd, I received an email that stated my order was processing. I thought this meant my chairs were shipping since it was still within that allotted amount of time. However, two weeks later and I still have yet to receive my chairs.

 

I contacted Cautivadora via their facebook and twitter along with living social.  I received a response from Cautivadora first saying...

We apologize for the inconvenience and that it has taken so long to write back. Your order did not ship yet. Cautivadora has not shipped any hammocks. Cautivadora was not paid for the hammocks by Living Social. Cautivadora was depending on the money to get products shipped and was to be paid an initial payment a month ago but hasn't received any money. Please do not tell my boss as I will get fired but this is the truth and I feel people should know it is not fair that Cautivadora is being beat up when it is not our fault. We will refund your shipping if you would like. We have been receiving an average of 4000 calls a day and 3000 emails a day due to the hammock deal which sold 14000. Mostly people like you looking for the order. Sorry you could not get through.

 

I then was talking to a represenative on twitter and have a Direct Message that states they have confirmed that all orders are currently being shipped.  Moments later I received an email that told me they have not been able to get in contact with a vendor. I called Living Social and talked to a represenative who basically told me the same thing. When I told her I personally had a response from the vendor they said they could reimburse me in "deal bucks".

 

I've done research on living social and it's no secret that they have had their share of financial trouble. It appears as though predictions are the company will not be around in 2014.  I highly recommend and refuse to accept any deal bucks as a remedy for this situation.  I purchases two chair $98 plus I paid $16 for shipping on EACH CHAIR.  That's $98 +$32  = $130... I want a full chas refund of $130 or I want them to find a comprabile portable hammock for the same value and send that to me.  After all it should be the responsibility of Living Social to make sure they are offering deals from reputiable vendors.

 

IF Cautivadora is right and Living Social has not paid them, What did they do with our money?
