Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

There is an illegal towing scam in the parking lot of 8973 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11214, Caesar's Bay Bazaar, and sometimes spelled Ceasar's Bay Bazaar, which hosts stores such as Toys R Us and Kohl's.  They are towing cars at an enormous rate.  They are bringing the cars around the corner and hiding them out of the owner's sight.  The owner is approached by the tow truck drivers and are told they can bring their cars back but for a hefty fee of $250 in cash, and cash only, they refuse credit card payments. The trap is that the shoppers walk over to the beautiful waterfront that is right there and they have to cross the street to do so and when they do, wham they get towed.

The customers of the shopping center are getting robbed blind and they don't even know it.  The tow trucks have spotters hiding in cars at the front entrance to watch the shopper leave the lot to call in the tow truck driver for the tow. They have even been seen towing cars long after the stores in the center has closed. Their scam was already published in the NY Post 12/2012, called "City Cracks Down on Scammer Tow Companies" about the Caesar's Bay Bazaar I have mentioned here.

The problem is that they have been shut down after Hurricane Sandy 10/2012. However, they have recently re-opened right after Toys R Us re-opened on 6/28/13, they have started to conduct the same towing scam again.  Kohl's was re-opened in March 2013 and there were no towing of cars. However, when Toys R Us re-opened they were towing cars again left and right, because its well known, Toys R Us partially owns the land, that is this private parking lot. Once they re-opened they brought back the same tow truck drivers called Custom Wreckers of 2481 McDonald Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11223, and the manager of the lot Pete, under PSJ Managment is responsible for the parking lot. He continuously allows the same tow truck people to acquire a new DCA license and operate again.  He even has a sign posted on his door saying don't call here (718-372-8686) about the towing.

Tell me why when the previous tow truck company Authorized Wreckers had their license suspended by the DCA for violations back in August of 2012, they did not hire anyone else, any other tow company, until the people of Authorized Wreckers (same phone number etc) got themselves a new license under a new name.  To keep re-hiring the same people who get their license suspended because of the public's complaints of illegal towing, but then acquires a new license and comes back there again to do the same thing over and over. However, the price went up, it was around $200 in cash and now its $250 in cash as victims say. The Warning tow away zone sign posted on each pole in the parking lot says to charge only around $116 per DCA regulations. The public does not know the laws, they pay them the money because they are threatened that they will not get their cars back if they do not. And someone should also look into whether any of these towed cars are checked in with the local precinct like they are supposed to, which is the 62 Precinct.
