My contract ended in October 2006. At that time my family decided that the billing and service were not satisfactory. We switched to Cingular and retained our cellular phone number.

We received an invoice with a credit balance in November 2006. Beginning in January 2007 we began receiving billings for service we no longer have. I repeatedly called the company indicating that we no longer utilize Cellular One and want the account closed. The customer service reps are consistently rude and refuse to help get the account closed. We refuse to pay the billings. With each passing month the billings increase. Finally in February 2007 we agree with a customer service rep that we will pay the 174.98 billing for service we don't have and Cellular One will close the account once and for all.

Yesterday, March 20, 2007 we again received an invoice from Cellular One showing a $180.00 payment, a monthly service charge of $55 and a reconnection fee of $25. When I called customer service irrate that they reconnected service, they could not provide me with the cell phone number for which I was being billed and once again refused to close the account.

This is clearly extortion. They admit that there is no service, no phone but they will continue to persue collection for service that they are not providing. They also indicate that failure to pay the invoices will continue to effect our credit rating.

We want to end this ridiculous relationship once and for all and would welcome any suggestions.
