My wife and myself purchased a new sectional and bedroom set from City Furniture Feb 15, 2014 for around $4500. We are writing this complaint in October, 2014. So the bedroom set and sofa are a bit over eight months old.
Now before, the part where the bed crashes to the floor… it should be noted that both my wife and myself are approaching 60 years old, and now it is just the two of us. Even our mattress is an air mattress made by Sleep Number that is 12 years old and still works wonderfully… but is much lighter than even an ordinary mattress and box-spring would be. So there is no reason for any bed with any quality or structure to fail.
We have always bought average furniture and it has in every case lasted for many years…. sometimes decades But, this time, we wanted even better than average, we wanted something that might last many years… maybe even long enough to pass it down to our kids. Little did we know we would pay more, but instead of the furniture lasting decades… or even years… it lasted only months. In fact, we will be still making payments on it for two more years.
So we were astounded when one evening…. the entire bed broke and fell to the floor. Out of the clear blue… bang… crash…. and the bed was on the floor.
Obviously, this startled us both. We thought it was an earth quake or someone had broken into the house. Once we were fully awake, we realized that the frame had busted from the headboard… allowing the bed to fall to the floor with us on top of it.
In addition, as if that was not enough, the recliner sofa… no longer reclines.
Consequently, we do not want the furniture any longer. we want a full refund so we can purchase a sofa and bedroom set that has some quality to it. we cannot afford to pay so much for furniture that does not even last long enough to pay for it.
We called City Furniture ( the store and corporate Customer-Service) and all they will do is supply a new frame (we do not even know if the headboard needs replaced too) and send someone out to look at the sofa... as long was we pay for delivery of the frame and the persons time to look at the sofa. We do not even know if the head board is also damaged, the sofa is repairable…
