City Of San Diego: Traffic Ticket Division Overcharged; "Traffic Ticket" --- Already Paid tickets... double charged San Diego California
To answer the question...
No--- No one contacted me with a "heads up" before the car was Impounded. I just walked out--- and my car was Missing.

New Information about San Diego Parking/Traffic Tickets...
(If you don't live in the SD area... beware that this may be a National "City" Scam as well).
Keep Accurate Records of
ALL RECEIPTS
when you pay Parking Tickets or other Traffic Tickets...
Most recently--- I experienced having my car towed and impounded--- due to having several tickets that were listed as "Unpaid". Two such tickets--- I had just received and had the full intention of paying.
Two other tickets--- I had ALREADY PAID... but I did not have accurate records to PROOVE that I had Already Paid them.... so was charged over $400.00 for those two parking tickets.
One ticket that I was being charged for--- was NOT EVEN MY CAR. (Had I not have called my attorney--- and found out that there was a Serious SCAM going on... I would not have spent the additional time to call them back-- and Ask for a complete List of the tickets that I was being charged for. That is the ONLY Way I would have found out that they had indeed made a "mistake").
-------------------------------------
When I shared my story with a friend of mine-- (who formerly worked with the FBI)--- she told me that she had had the same thing happen--- before she moved to Tulsa. In her case--- she had saved Accurate Records--- and could easily PROOVE that she had already paid the tickets.. which the city was saying had been "unpaid". (Otherwise--- the city would have collected over $400 from her.)

A Very Valuable Lesson...
FACT:
The City of San Diego needs to create additional income...
Beware that the #1 Way for the City to Collect Income comes in the form of giving tickets (Traffic, Parking, DUI's, Etc...).
THEORY (After Recent Experience):
The City may be over charging people in order to get "out of the hole" financially...
BEST DEFENSE:
1.) Be Extra Careful to Not Receive a Parking/Traffic Ticket in the First Place...
2.) Pay All Parking Tickets in a Timely Manner
3.) Keep ALL Records of Tickets Paid (Just in case you are billed twice for the same ticket).
4.) If your bill appears to be "High"--- Call the Office-- and Play "Nancy Drew". You may save yourself some serious money!
