Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I joined cj years ago and only got a commission on my own purchases I spent a lot of time promoting my site.. it was a directory and I had acquired over 500 affiliates that approved my site through cj.com

DirecTV ripped me off and refused to pay me a commission on my own purchase

I called cj right away when the commission did not show up in the back office. also, the link I put up was one DirecTV emailed me as some affiliates did on promotions to save you the time of having to log into your cj account and retrieve the link yourself as was the way I usually did

It took a month before cj had got back to me and said they had contacted DirecTV on my behalf and tried to get DirecTV to pay me the commission due but said DirecTV said it was my responsibility to make sure my links track and that the code is right the code was right, it did not track, and when I followed up to have cj look into as to why it did not track, they had no answer

Also, my neighbor went to my site and clicked an affiliate link on my site to Sears and ordered a $200 vacuum cleaner the commission never show up on that either. I had a family member go to the site and order something and again, no commission showed up or was paid

I also had my account deactivated by them a couple times they claim due to inactivity

When I had been promoting the site, I had over 3500 visits in one month many return visits to certain advertisers and yet not a single commission

I then went to check my account info and I was blocked out I had to call cj and the guy on the other end was typing frantically and then said I reset it, you should now be able to log in when I did all my tax info and name and address had been re-set and blanked out too

By the way, they cant send you a check without that info which was there initially, then disappeared it was as if someone say an insider employee with access to your back office was monitoring it and since they log everyone of your log-ins they would know if you had logged into your account to check your commissions or not and if not, if they were dishonest, could delete them or divert them

Also, commissions use to post in real time or at least within an hour... they had changed that to always being posted every 24 hours via a 24 hour delay before they would post commissions that is, if you made a purchase say yourself and logged in to check it, it would not be posted till 24 hours later

Now say you did not check your commissions for say 48 hours or two days if they are checking every day, and know you are not, what is to stop them from deleting those commissions from your back office if they are con artists and know that you had not logged in since last time and thus would not know of the new commissions owed you that came in since them unless say one of them was a purchase you made yourself and thus would be looking for it to show up next time you logged in?

And what would be their motive to screw you? because the client pays them all the commissions and they in turn pay you

The only way you would know if you had a commission coming or not would be if you actively logged in a daily basis to check your back office as their was no email notification to otherwise inform you

I believe they are dishonest and cannot be trusted the proof is in the pudding look at all the complaints from others filed

Just google commission junction scam and learn about the two class action suits filed against them that they and all their money were able to get their attorneys to get dropped... they also put up some of their own sites countering the claims with numerous claims of praise about their service... I joined that site with a membership as required to post a comment that they screened and did not post... obiously the ones behind that site that also comes up in a google search of cj.com scam was placed there to try and discredit the reports of others claiming they were scamed as I was...

Facts you should be aware concerning the CJ Affiliate Network

#3General Comment

Tue, March 22, 2011

In my own experiences, I used CJ.com for 7 years and made some good money. More recently, I received an email stating that my account would be closed because I didn't follow the rules. And within minutes my CJ account was locked and couldn't be accessed. Furthermore, they requested that I answer their emails but they also locked the email address so I was not able to answer. And all my answers were sent back to me.

After further investigations on my part and out point since the last years on my sales I found the following:

During the period of Sept, Oct and Nov 2009, I was making good sales with one of my merchant like $60 - $120 a day. Then certainly toward the end of Nov 2009 the sales stopped to $0 while my clicks and impressions were still going up. I contacted CJ support and told them about this situation and they responded that they could agree more with the crash and that they will investigate. They did and found nothing wrong with their systems. But what could I do to verify their statements? Nothing!

Another CJ merchant, I use to make good money back in 2006 certainty stopped making sales for about 1 year and half. Despite the clicks stats still going up but no sales. Then this CJ Merchant decided to leave CJ.com last year and went to another affiliate Network. I signed up with this new affiliate Network and joined this merchant. Believe or not my sales went up the roof and still are going up to this day.

One other similar example from another sport merchant that decided to leave CJ. But prior leaving, since I was a good affiliate for them sent me a private email stating that they couldn't work with CJ anymore and they wanted me to join them on their private Affiliate Network, which I did. Using this new Merchant Network as opposed to CJ, I double my sales on a monthly basis.

To make a story short as per the above, one can see that CJ system either at the corporate level or individual affiliate manager are dishonest. This is simple and very straight forward facts.

So the question remind since the last 7 years using 100's of CJ merchants how much money never came in my pocket? No idea...

But for sure, I know for a fact that somewhere along the line that some affiliate managers are keeping the sales from affiliate to themselves and perhaps the heads of CJ.com most probably don't even know about it.

Personally, I do not blame CJ as a company. I mean, there are no doubt in my mind that few bad apple are working in their system ripping off affiliates that work hard to get some extra money. And I will believe that the corporate at CJ don't even know about.

Anyway, I still waiting for my last payment from them which I earned but I not sure if I will ever get it...

ps: CJ if you read this, you should investigate your own back yard as per the above facts you are being betrayed and many affiliates are too.

ps: I know that there are many instances and examples like this. Affiliate if you have similar situations happening to YOU gather the facts and speak out LOAD. You can make a difference...

The last couple of years I had my publisher account, I did not earn a single commission. They also have in the fine print that you must make a sale within 3 months with an affiliate or you will not get paid or qualify for a commission... I asked them about that after they had deactivated my account as they claimed due to inactivity even though I had been actively working on changing links and tiring to promote my site to earn a commission from a sale to try and supplement my income. I asked if I would have to take down all the links and put up new ones... they said no, and that I could still earn commissions even though they state in the contract agreement you enter in with them that to qualify for getting paid a commission you must generate a sale within a 3 month period from the time you obtain an affiliation with one of their clients... they are a value click company that supposedly earns their money from charging the client for impressions and traffic to their commerce site.

However, instead of the client paying the publisher directly, they pay cj and cj supposedly pays the publisher.. assuming they are honest and properly reporting those commissions and paying them to the publishers...

I gave them the benefited of the doubt since I had put so much work into my site and putting up and placing links to their clients commerce sites...

but I became suspicious for good reason when I was blocked out of my back office and my account information was wiped out along with the fact that when I checked some of the links in which they give you the code... were not tracking and being redirected without the tracking affiliate id showing up in the address bar in the browse...  that and the fact that many of the clients would ask the visitor and customer to join with a membership before being able to purchase then would send email links and notifications to parties about what they may of shown interest in while browsing their site...  they claim that set a cookie good for 30 days so that if a visitor comes back within 30 days and buys something, you will still earn a commission...

notwithstanding that many new browsers delete cookies every time you close the browser... so much for that promise and lie...

also, I would get offers to agree to new terms from affiliates I never earned a dime from and that I could accept or decline but that If I did nothing, in 7 days it would be taken as an agreement...

I got a lot of deactivation notices from cj that many of my affiliates had deactivated and that I should take down the link as if I left it up, I would not receive commissions even thought the link would still take a visitor to the site who might buy something...

they would be down for a week or so and then you would get a notice they reactivated... It became a hassle to take down and put back up the links so I would ignore those notices as I figured in a week they would reactivate and if I took the link down, I would just have to put it back up again...

I am telling you, you can not make this s**t up...

I believe my account had been compromised by insiders that were monitoring my back office and or by some software program that was monitoring accounts and diverting commissions from showing up...

I was promoting a web hosting affiliate I had thought them just before I finally closed my account and wrote it off as having been scammed for years by a company you would think was on the up and up since they were doing business with many well known companies that had commerce sites... it was after I complained to that company that they informed me that it was a scam as they did not deal with cj and would have no way to track the link to verify it was not being redirected to someone else's account that may be getting the commission.

within one or two weeks after having made that complaint, low and behold 4 sales and commission showed up ... after that I decided to cut my losses and close the account as for all the years of not earning a dime except on a few but not all of my own purchases and that many of the links were not showing as tracking in the back office after testing some suspect ones that appeared to be being redirected... as they were not even showing as having been clicked in the back office where you were suppose to be able to view which ones were being clicked and which ones converted a lead or a sale in which you were to be paid and shown the amount earned before check was to be issued... many links no longer indicating in performance report  some time after having put them up...

Commission Junction Response

Commission Junction ("CJ") is a global leader in the online advertising channel of affiliate marketing.  Founded in 1998, CJ is based in Santa Barbara, California and has offices around the world.  CJ introduces online advertisers with online promoters or publishers, who earn commission for referring Web users who purchase advertiser's products.

CJ disagrees with the allegations made in the above complaint.  CJ complies with all applicable contracts, laws, rules, and regulations in its business dealings with advertisers and publishers.  CJ strives to make sure that publishers are paid their rightful commissions for all bona fide transactions. CJ does deactivate publisher accounts that have been inactive for a period of six (6) months or longer, however this is done in accordance with the Publisher Service Agreement which publishers agree to when signing up for a free publsher account.  The amount of time it takes for commissions to post is dependent upon the tracking method of the advertiser, and can vary from advertiser to advertiser.  CJ does not delay the posting of commissions in order to steal from publishers.
