My sons wanted to workout during the summer months they were on break from college (they attend college out of town) so when they found this reasonable rate for a couple months the first thing they diclosed to Club Fitness was that they only needed to go to the gym for those 3 months and for that to be done by the end of August of 2014. They were easy to talk to and said that it would not be a problem, that such membership would end at the end of that month and nothing else was required from them since it had been stated or noted on their computer.
My kids used my credit card which I had agreed to pay for both of them until the end of the summer. August came and went and charges for membership continued to be made even tho my kids weren't even in town!!!! I contacted my son who gave Club Fitness a call and they said they would take care of it, but nothing. My card continued to be charged. I got involved in December of 2014, by then 4 months of unnecesary charges had been done for each one of my sons. When I called Club Fitness, they said you could only cancel with a certified letter and 30 days in advance or online (neither one of those things had been told to them), when I asked them to stop charging my card or I would seek legal action he became very rude and laughed at me saying "good luck with that". I called my credit card company, placed a complaint and refunded myu charges from the month of September on.
I got a "delinquent"letter from Club Fitness yesterday for each one of my sons, giving them 15 day to pay back what the credit company had charged them back for.
I am extremely frustrated and feeling robbed at this time. If I don't want a service, it shouldn't be so hard to say "NO" or "STOP". They are steeling right out of my wallet, having taken advantage of prospect customers (19 and 20 year old). I don't have a problem paying for what I consume or use. But having to pay for services that you have asked to discontinue this should be illegal, and therefore criminal!!!!
